Part 2 is here!
We asked hikers to blind taste test some of the most common energy bars found in our FREE hiker bins.
This round featured:
@theprobar
@lennyandlarrys complete cookie
@rangemealbar

One of these became an early favorite while another earned comments like "tastes like perfume" and "the longer it lingers the worse it gets"

Let us know if you agree and let us know what snack always ends up in your pack 👇

Follow along for part 3 to see the winner!

Fuel matters when the pace doesn’t stop. 🔥

During the @hobo.forge.survival Skills Event, days were packed from sunup to sundown — moving, training, building, competing. Eating on the fly was the norm, and that’s where these @rangemealbar came in clutch.

Big thanks to @younggerryyoung (and passed down from @estelawilded ) for putting these in my hands. After putting them to the test over 3 hard days, I can say they hit the mark.

I’m pretty strict about what I put in my body — whole foods, real ingredients, minimal junk. These check a lot of those boxes and actually deliver when you need real fuel, not just empty calories.

Macros (per bar):
• 700 calories
• 36g fat
• 87g carbs (20g fiber)
• 18g protein

High calorie, nutrient-dense, and built for performance when you don’t have time to sit down and eat.

These are definitely getting added to my always-have-on-me loadout.

Train hard. Fuel smart.

Mixed climbing and drytooling are acquired tastes – like whiskey and black coffee – but a necessary skill for long multi-pitch ice lines, winter alpine climbing, and accessing unique ice that rarely touches the ground.

While still hanging around the desert for work, extending rock climbing season far beyond it's logical conclusion, I've found myself dreaming of all things frozen. I decided to write an article for my younger self, the new winter climber - a five route progression for learning the dark art of choss scratching in Hyalite Canyon, one of North America's friendliest mixed climbing venues. All five (six...) of the routes played a pivotal role in my development as a winter climber.

If mixed climbing and drytooling seems ridiculous, that's because it is. But sometimes ridiculous is fun, and can produce extremely full value adventures. After all, adventure is what climbing is all about.

Check out the article at tenthousandtoofar.com (link in bio). It'll be towards the top of recent posts.

I hope everybody has a wonderful Thanksgiving, with or without ice climbing 🥷🧊 ⚔️

(photos of myself and friends on all things ridiculous over the years, not necessarily the routes I wrote about)

Oh, and @rangemealbar is the best in the game. Period.

Isolation traverse. Torment Traverse. Forbidden Peak. Ptarmigan Traverse. 4 rad adventures over the past five days!

Some sporty moments, much flow, some humbling moments, many magical views. It’s July!

My poor grocery shopping skills over the past week truly were saved by @rangemealbar Each bar has 700 calories of good organic ingredients which made the 12,100 meters elevation gain over these four efforts well fueled!

This past June 1st, I had the pleasure to co-lead a student graduation climb of Mount Hood, part of @intermountainalpineclub ‘s yearly free mountaineering instruction program.

It was an unforgettable day of determination, implementation of learned skills, and triumph with six of this year’s students. Full trip report on my blog!

My first Ultra Marathon experience and was it special! Grateful to be able to support and assist my good friends Kumi and Glen on accomplishing such a monumental feat/goal, but also for bringing me along for this awesome journey. Lake Tahoe was an unforgettable place and I paced for 34 miles, my longest stretch since the NYC Marathon back in November. Watching Glen and Kumi carve through this grueling 200 miles race taught me that in life, anything is possible with preparation, consistency, and mental toughness. It was so surreal and for 11hrs, I felt things that I didn’t know I could feel while pacing. I also signed up for my first Ultra Marathon on November 15th in Staten Island. I will continue to run both on roads and trails, but this experience opened my eyes to a whole different world, excited to start training and of course, thankful for all the support and confidence moving forward. #CorosPace2 #LakeTahoe #Tahoe200 #Tahoe200Pacer #Tahoe200Training #UltraMarathon #Ultra #Coros #Corosglobal #Asics #Salomon #DestinationTrails #TahoeRimTrail #EnduranceRun #Marathon #Running #TrailRunning
