@brandonragnar’s Kings of The Road is a technicolor salad of a cartoonumentary that Ralph Bakshi called “a textbook for animators in the brilliant use of design”. Inside, you’ll find characters you’d never want to meet and situations you’d cross the tracks to avoid. It’s as appealing as it is repulsive (and we mean that as the HIGHEST compliment!).

Was life riding the rails ever really this ugly? This beautiful? Hop a boxcar with Ragnar for a fictitious trip through some of the not-so-great corners of this great country, with traveling companions who are…let’s say…..less than desirable. 👀

Pack light. Bring snacks. Don’t make eye contact. Kings of the Road is available now - Link in bio!

Field trip! The Baby Tattoo team recently explored the Lucas Museum and came out dizzy with delight. Both the building itself and the pieces inside were spectacular to see in person.

Plus, shout-out to our friend @oliviapinupart, whose portrait of Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia is just breathtaking!

Now we’re curious: are YOU an artist with work hanging at the Lucas? Tell us in the comments! We’d love to peek at your creations on our next visit. 😄

Tumble down the rabbit hole of ten years of Hi-Fructose Magazine!

Turn the Page: The First Ten Years of Hi-Fructose is the keepsake edition of the museum exhibition at the @virginiamoca. Inside, you’ll find all 51 artists from the show, including Mark Ryden, Audrey Kawasaki, Tara McPherson, Camille Rose Garcia, Travis Louie, and more! The book is 12x12 and brilliantly colored, making it easy to get lost in.

Besides the art, you’ll also get an intro from the show’s curators and the Hi-Fructose co-founders, as well as excerpts from a decade of Hi-Fructose articles.

Only 2,000 copies exist in the whole wide world. Catch one while you can! 🐇⏳

NEW to the Curiosity Shop: the Michael Whelan “In a World of Her Own” pin!

It all began with a 1968 Stanley Kubrick quote that stuck in Michael’s head for decades: “However vast the darkness, we must supply our own light.” That was the spark behind this visual meditation on the quiet act of choosing to shine anyway.

We love this painting so much that it became the one of the stunning cover variants for Beyond Science Fiction: The Alternative Realism of Michael Whelan. (So if the pin has you hooked, go even deeper into @theartofmichaelwhelan’s many worlds with the book!)

And now, it’s small enough to pin to your jacket or your bag. Bring your own light with you wherever you go!

We’re big fans of the work that @brandonragnar has done for House of Secrets in Burbank, CA. If you are too, we think you’ll also love the books we’ve published with him!

Case in point: Symptomatica, featured above! Flip through it and you’ll spot the House of Secrets sign tucked right there in the pages, among many other wonderful detours into the strange and unknown.

And speaking of detours, make sure to swing by @houseofsecretsburbank next time you’re in the neighborhood!
