SOME BATTLES AREN’T WON ON THE STAGE.
Some battles start long before the lights come on.

@johnbridgetst turned 19 years old just one week before stepping onto the Battle of the Bend stage.
She wasn’t sure she’d even make it to 19.
She spent her birthday dealing with unimaginable pain, surgeries, hospital visits and uncertainty. One of her final birthday wishes was simple:

She wanted to be healthy enough to walk onto our stage.

Days before the show, she was back in the hospital. Her procedure had failed. Another final surgery was waiting for her. But she had already made up her mind.

She was coming to South Bend.
And she did.
She walked onto that stage.
She competed.
She won 1st Place True Novice Women’s Physique.
And she took 3rd Place in Ms. South Bend.

But those trophies don’t tell the whole story.
They don’t show everything she had to overcome just to get herself to South Bend.

Bridget said it best:
“I built belief out of NOTHING.”
That is what Battle of the Bend is about.
Not just physiques.
Not just trophies.

The battle.

The moments when everything tells you to quit, and you decide you’re still going to swing those axes.

After the show, we knew we wanted to do something a little different for Bridget.
So we made the drive to Stryker, Ohio to personally present her with the very first official “Bridget St John Award.”

And while we were there, Bridget asked us if she could make us some of her homemade protein brownies.
Our answer?
Absolutely. YES.

Because sometimes the best part of this sport has nothing to do with trophies.
It’s the people you meet.
The relationships you build.
And the memories that stay with you long after the stage comes down.

Bridget, it was an absolute honor to have you on our stage.
You didn’t just compete at Battle of the Bend.
You reminded everyone there and that was watching what it means to fight for something you refuse to let go of.

Whatever comes next, carry that same fire with you.
You’ve already proven what you’re capable of and your legacy will always continue on with all of us at NPC Battle of the Bend.

Keep swinging.
