Announcing the release of

RAPHAEL VANOLI Music for Berend Strik’s EVERY(WO)MAN

Nine years ago, I composed music for artist Berend Strik’s music theatre play EVERY(WO)MAN, which he created with designer Aziz Bekkaoui. I am grateful for the fantastic musicians and sound engineers who brought my ideas to life. Thank you all so much for your support <3

Credits:
* Nora Fischer: Vocals & Fender Bass VI
* Mike Schmid: Flute, Bass Flute, Contrabass Flute, Glissando PVC Flute
* Gerri Jäger: Drums, Electronics, Synth
* Mark Haanstra: Bass Guitar, Effects
* Raphael Vanoli: Fender Bass VI, Electric Guitar, Classical Guitar, Electronics, Samples
* Carlos Dalla Fiore: Electronic Processing, Dubs, Multitrack & Overdub Recording
* Sandor Caron: FOH Mix, Album Mix & Master

Musically, my idea was to extend parts of the universe of my band KNALPOT with Nora Fischer’s vocals, more low-register with additional bass guitars and bass flutes, and layers of noise featuring extended techniques and electronics. The music was received so well during the shows in October 2016 that I decided to ask Carlos Dalla Fiore to multitrack the final performance. Afterwards, we recorded overdubs, and Sandor Caron and I took all the time needed to produce this album—a process of slow cooking. Sandor mixed and mastered it. Though this music was made for theatre, it stands on its own, and I am super happy with the result!

EVERY(WO)MAN will soon be released on selected streaming services and my Bandcamp (follow the link in bio).

Thanks and greetings, Raphael

Background: Commissioned by Kunst in het Stationsgebied, visual artist Berend Strik developed an art project in the heart of the Hoog Catherijne shopping centre in Utrecht, the oldest shopping mall in the Netherlands. In collaboration with Aziz Bekkaoui, a workshop was set up for two months where art and social encounters were central. A pop-up theatre venue was built in the back of the shop. The collaboration resulted in a music theatre performance about Everywoman: a woman who says goodbye to her shop and wants to contribute to a better world, for which Raphael Vanoli composed the music.

Five years ago, Richard van Kruysdijk and me recorded some songs at Paviljoen ongehoorde muziek in Eindhoven. Today they are finally released. Digital only on Music For Speakers. What better place to do the release than at the same venue? Come celebrate with us! Tonight 8 PM!

this is Kalinausko (sneak peek excerpt)

“If the sound is good it makes me feel good” (Joe Zawinul)
(so true!)

After so many years of practicing and tweaking this sound is a reality, in control and at times overwhelmingly epic and fat…sometimes hard to believe it is coming out of this body and guitar. Massive power, it is full of love and life 🤘

Can’t wait to play live so much much more and feel this massive vibration

Amsterdam-based Raphael Vanoli conjures distant sonic worlds with little more than a guitar and effects. Using blowing techniques on electric guitar and its microscopic sounds, he transcends the aesthetics of conventional guitar music, instead crafting minimalistic, cinematic compositions characterized by densely-layered emotions. In solo live settings, the resulting sounds range from tropical rainforest floor soundscapes and lush, choir-like textures to apocalyptic earthquake rumbles. His first album Bibrax (Clean Feed/Shhpuma 2017) received excellent international reviews.

Raphael will play some new compositions from his upcoming album alongside a few older pieces on an installation of big tube amplifiers & PA especially conceived for this concert, honoring beloved Dokzaal.

Expect a mesmerizing bath in otherworldy, immersive sound.

@radio_trapani

RADIO TRAPANI (NL/ITA) makes sophisticated indie-pop songs.

It is the alter ego of Dario Trapani, guitarist and songwriter with a background in jazz and countless hours spent producing.
He has a soft spot for extended chords, catchy hooks and melancholic yet goofy lyrics, a processed blend of Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Frank Ocean, Mac
DeMarco and Dirty Projectors.

The first album T.V.B. Kind of Love was released last Sept 2022.

The band here features:
Radio Trapani - guitar, vocals, sampler
Alessandro Mazzieri - electric bass, synthesiser
