Congratulations to @lipodystrophyunited (LU) and the lipodystrophy community for an extremely impactful Externally-Led Patient-Focused Drug Development meeting on Friday (followed by a symposium and prom). I hope the FDA, researchers and clinicians will take to heart what individuals living with lipodystrophy and their caregivers/care partners had to say about the debilitating hunger, pain and fatigue they experience daily and their willingness to accept risk in potential new treatments that may offer even a few hours of relief per week. It was an incredibly moving day because patients and their families were open about their experiences including what it feels like to regularly receive comments from strangers about their appearance. I am glad they have each other, their families and the compassionate, committed members of LU’s Scientific Advisory Board for support and guidance.

A lovely evening celebrating the last book club before everyone scatters for the summer! @tabrenna outdid herself with decorations in a Book Witch theme including a 3D-printed safe.

This is the leadership we need in PA. I am grateful to have a governor I can be proud of (especially when so many federal elected officials are an embarrassment). My favorite lines from brief remarks by @joshshapiropa: “Everyone is welcome here. Diversity is a strength… We lift up our neighbors with disabilities. We do not put them down.”

Another book club, another night of great food and company. Everyone who read How to Read A Book was moved by it and we all loved Frank. I appreciated the theme of found family.

The book may be a disappointment but book club never is! The wonderful fellowship (and food) is a highlight of every month.

✨BOOK REVIEW ✨

📚THE BUTCHER’S DAUGHTER, by David Demchuk and Corinne Leigh Clark.
Publisher: Hell’s Hundred
Pub date: May 6, 2025

THE BUTCHER’S DAUGHTER has a slow build up that is worth waiting for. Going back in time to an individual suspected of being Mrs. Lovett, Sweeney Todd’s accomplice, who baked men the barber killed into pies. This story, told through the correspondence between Miss Emily Gibson, an inquiring journalist, and M.E., the one who is allegedly the one who becomes known as Mrs. Lovett, is deliciously dark and good.

I give David Demchuk and Corinne Leigh Clark’s THE BUTCHER’S DAUGHTER ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5).

⚠️ This is a dark story with abuse that happens.

✨ I enjoyed buddy reading and discussing this with Stephanie.

❓QOTD: Have you heard of or read this? What did you think? What do you know about Sweeney Todd or Mrs. Levitt?
