Officially 6 years as an OT 🥹✨

Many asked how I got here, so here’s my story ⬇️

2019: I graduated with my Masters, passed my last fieldwork with flying colors, and was ready to take my NBCOT exam. 3 attempts made and I failed each time, which left me hopeless. I wanted to still do some work that was passionate to me and ended up getting an assistant T&F coach job in NYC, which helped me make some money while I was studying to pass my boards.

2020: The pandemic came full force and canceled my NBCOT exam. 🫠 I made the decision to pause studying until things opened up and start my IG fitness page. I would post my home workouts & joined a pandemic fitness challenge via IG & started to post my results. That got me the opportunity to be a lead coach for the monthly challenges & become close with @kiaratheleader & @coachnekofreeman (Love yall frr 💜) The world opened up again and I took my exam for the 4th time and passed. 🥳 Your girl was excited to start her big girl job as an OT.

2021: I started working in HH as an OT & I was STRESSED 😭 However, I managed to still create fitness events like the Thick Amb Beast Bootcamps (shoutouts to @rasheedanb for collaborating with me on that idea 🫶🏾). I ended up going into the SNFs for more work structure and ended up feeling burnout. At the same time, I entered the kettlebell community and my life changed for the better. Every week, I was so happy to learn about the kettlebell and challenge myself in a way I haven’t done since being a hurdler. I knew I wanted to coach, so I start preparing to take my first KB certification.

2022: I earned my RKC and started to train a few people with the KB. I traveled near and far to connect with my KB community and continue to learn and grow. I also ended up going into travel therapy that gave me the flexibility I needed to build my own class at the time, Bells & Plyo 🔔 Later that year, a close friend @workoutwithwendel 😉 and I started dating right when I accepted my next travel OT contract in NC.

2023: My travel therapy contract ended earlier than expected and I was back home completing a contract that was 1.5 hr away from home #Stressed 🫠 I was frustrated and started to feel

I was speaking with a fellow OT friend this week and I was telling her how back in OT school being a student athlete, I kept both worlds separate.

I loved being in both the fitness/health/wellness and rehab worlds, but didn’t explore the idea of blending both together.

It took the pandemic and my failing attempts to pass the NBCOT to rediscover how much movement and health/wellness meant to me that I was ready to take the leap of faith to do something different as a clinician.

Shoutouts to all the OT students already creating capstones and projects and also exploring opportunities earlier than I did. You are an inspiration 🫶🏾✨

You may still be holding onto parts of your old life while asking God to make you new.

Transformation requires more than a moment. It requires surrender, wisdom, discernment, and a willingness to let God change the way you think and live.

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” — Hosea 4:6

Sometimes you’re not lacking a desire for God.

You may just need to learn what it actually means to walk with Him.

Christianity is not glitz and glam. Nobody tells you that when you come to faith, God doesn’t hand you the relationship, the job, or the financial stability — He strips away the idols you made out of those things and builds you on something that actually lasts.

Picking up your cross daily is hard. But put it next to what Jesus carried and it’s minute.

This needs to be heard. Full episode is live now. Link in bio. 🎙

Drop a 🙌🏾 if this is the version of Christianity nobody warned you about.

“2 + 2 = 35” when you’re applying biblical principles however you want to. 😂

Dishawnte said what a lot of people won’t. When you’re living in the world you apply the Bible to what’s convenient. But a covenant is a covenant.

Full episode still live on YouTube. Link in bio. 🎙

Lately, life has felt like love in its smallest forms conversation, connection, community. I’m learning to hold onto those moments tightly, because they are often the very things that carry us through.❤️ dump

Episode 4 of Season 2 is LIVE now — this week we have Melanie Garcia. 🎙

When her diagnosis came, it didn’t break her. It opened her eyes to a gap in the church and a generation of young adults who needed community. Instead of complaining about it she leaned in and became the answer.

She saw the need. She became the answer.

Episode 4 of Season 2 is almost here — and this one hits different. 🎙

Melanie shares how a diagnosis opened her eyes not just to her own faith but to a gap in the church — and instead of complaining about it, she decided to lean in.

“Why does it always have to fall on the church? It could fall on me. It could fall on us.”

She’s talking about building community, connecting young adults across churches and why she believes there is a revival happening in New York right now.

Episode 4 drops tomorrow at 12pm. Link in bio.

Drop a 🙌🏾 if you’ve ever seen a need in your church and felt the pull to do something about it.

Episode 3 of Season 2 is LIVE now — and this week we have a Bronx native, actor, casting director and man of God, Tuffy Questell. 🎙

30 years in Hollywood. Faith still intact.

You may know him from HBO’s How to Make It in America, Vampires vs. the Bronx, Gotham and more — but this week Tuffy sits down to share what it really looks like to walk in faith in an industry that doesn’t always welcome it.

Link in bio. Go watch now.

Drop a 🙌🏾 in the comments if you’ve ever had to keep your faith quiet in your workplace or industry.
