Ask me about the first time—post-ACL surgery and postpartum—when I finally felt like I *might* recognize myself on a mat again and remembered what it felt like to be game.

This was it. 🤎

✨ lately ✨

God has been slowly changing my heart, opening my eyes, and reminding me that every season in my life had a purpose. What once felt confusing now feels like grace/peace. Thankful for the awakening and every blessing that came with it. There’s a certain peace I can’t fully explain that comes when God starts revealing things you were never meant to carry forever.
Thank you God for the good, the bad, and the ugly.❣️

Continuing study of attacks on the neck from the seated guard, this week, taking a look at the loop choke from the front headlock 🔄

Aside from its “friendliness” during pregnancy, three more reasons I love this submission
📍It’s a great way to introduce a reaction when your opponent is in turtle—even if you can’t finish this submission, you can get a good reaction to improve your position from a fairly neutral one to a more offensive one.
📍Most front headlock submissions (d’arce, anaconda, and guillotine chokes) are friendlier to a no-gi context. This submission is one that works for the gi season 🤌
📍You can find this submission in more dynamic ways—not just when someone is hunkering down in turtle. One great opportunity? When passing using the knee cut and your opponent tries to defend by wrestling up (see @brunofrazattojj ‘s YouTube video “ADVANCED | Loop Choke From Knee Slice,” which also has more details on the finish for this technique)

My whole life changed in 2025. For the better. It was done with calculated purpose and intention. I am so deeply grateful for all the incredible people in my life supporting me and pushing me to be the best version of myself possible. 2026 will be a building year and I cannot wait to see what it brings.

🐣Grew a baby boy to 80%
🎥 Became somewhat less camera shy

Thankful to the friends, training partners, coaches, family, fellow writers, interviewees, mentors, dogs, 🐛, and everyone else along for the ride from 2025 and into 2026.
