It was pinch-me moment after pinch-me moment getting to do this reading with good friends and new friends! 🧡💜🩷

Bringing Maxi, Hunter and Seagul 1 (1 of 1, #1, the only 1) to life was a joy, a challenge and a dream come true.

Congrats @chikathat you really are THAT girl. I’m so proud of everything you have achieved and all that you stand for. Thank you for allowing me the great honour to be a part of the first development of Ogechi’s Salon.

A huge thanks to Zoey, Jenni and everyone at @melbtheatreco for making it such a joyful process! It’s been a dream for as long as I can remember to work in this beautiful theatre and I hope to be back again!

I’ve spent the last week and a bit workshopping my first full length play “Ogechi’s Salon” with this amazing group of people @melbtheatreco ! Turns out they all lied on their CV’s and failed to mention they model on the side too? Who do I report them to for the deception (disgrace)? Anyway, I’d tell you to come to the show but we’re sold out or whatever. Blessed and highly favoured iktr 💋🫶🏾🪮🫰🏾

MTC’s CYBEC ELECTRIC Festival of New Writing is just around the corner! Rehearsed readings of three in-development plays will be presented 6-8 August. John Marc Desengano is directing COCAINE BUST, which Justin Wang will also be performing in, and Rashidi Edward will be performing in OGECHI’S SON. One rehearsal. Three communities. Endless creativity 💥

This Saturday, our Edge Ensembles from Footscray, St Albans and Wyndham come together again for our second full Group Rehearsal.

These days are some of our favourites — they’re a chance for participants to connect across locations, make new friends, collaborate with different artists and celebrate everything they’ve been creating throughout the program so far.

And this time...we’re adding a little extra fun.

⚔️ The Great Edge Skills Battle is here!

Participants are invited to share a hidden talent, quirky skill, party trick or creative surprise and battle with our Lead and Support Artists (and even some Core Staff 👀). It isn’t about being the “best” — not even close — it’s about celebrating curiosity, courage and all the wonderfully unique things that make our community who we are.

There’s still plenty of time to register for Edge (via link in bio) and join your local Ensemble to take part an illuminating show that tours the west later this year.

We’re looking forward to another day filled with creativity, laughter and connection.

Please help my friend Roza’s family in any way you can as they navigate this horrible time. Roza was a beautiful person who deserved to grow old with her husband Edward and be able to mother her 8 children into old age. Goodbye my friend.xx
