⚾️ THE BEST PLAYERS AREN’T JUST SKILLED. THEY’RE ATHLETIC.

Too many young players spend all their time working on baseball-specific skills while neglecting the athletic foundation that helps those skills translate to the field.

💥 Speed.
💥 Agility.
💥 Balance.
💥 Coordination.
💥 Strength.
💥 Explosiveness.

It’s not baseball skills OR movement skills. It’s baseball skills AND movement skills.

Want to develop a better baseball player? Start by building a better athlete.

At Rio Grande Baseball, we believe in developing the COMPLETE athlete. The skills matter, but so does the foundation underneath them.

BUILD THE ATHLETE FIRST. THE BASEBALL PLAYER FOLLOWS. 🐦‍⬛🔴⚫️

👇 Agree or disagree? Are we doing enough to develop athleticism in youth baseball, or are we too focused on baseball-specific training?

Drop your thoughts in the comments. Let’s have the conversation.

Building a program isn’t about one season. It’s about building a standard, developing young men, creating a culture, and laying a foundation that lasts.

The wins will come. The relationships, discipline, accountability, and lessons learned along the way—that’s the real work.

They can call me a “BAD COACH.” I’ll take that.

If holding players accountable for their grades, attendance, effort, attitude, and commitment makes me the bad guy… so be it.

I’m not here just to develop better baseball players.
I’m here to help develop better people.

Standards matter. Accountability matters. Character matters.

⚾️ MORE THAN A GAME.
🔴⚫️ BETTER PLAYERS. BETTER PEOPLE.

⚾ 24 TEAMS. TWO STATES. ONE GREAT WEEKEND OF BASEBALL! 📸

Day One of the Five Tool New Mexico Jeff Kiraly High School Classic did not disappoint!

20 teams from across New Mexico and four from El Paso, Texas took the field today at the Jennifer Riordan Sports Complex — and I was there capturing the action.

📸 Here’s a look at some of today’s early games!

With 24 teams competing, I couldn’t get to everyone today — if I missed your team, I’ll be looking for you tomorrow!

A huge thank-you to Ryan Brewer and Five Tool New Mexico for allowing me the opportunity to provide photography coverage for this outstanding event.

Good luck tomorrow to all the players and coaches, and thank you to the umpires, parents, families and everyone who traveled from across New Mexico and Texas to make this tournament happen.

⚾ DAY TWO COMING TOMORROW!
