Half house, half garden—Hollyhock House feels welcoming not only to people but animals too. Thankfully, this bird quickly flew back outside after stopping for a moment to perch on and admire Ravi GuneWardena’s ikebana work 🪻

A toast, in retrospect, to the opening dinner party for Sarah Rosalena’s layer by layer. To the collectors, curators, artists, and friends who filled the room with intelligence, generosity, and joy. These are the evenings that remind us why we built this gallery.

🌺 Aaaand that’s a wrap! @diusalien (Axel Schmitzberger) and some of his amazing @cpp_arc students packed up his exhibition “Alfred Preis Displaced: Viennese Modernism in the Tropics” after a fantastic month at the Historic Neutra Office Building.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by throughout the show and for yesterday’s last hurrah. Thanks to Axel for shining a light on the remarkable life and work of Austrian émigré architect Alfred Preis. Thanks to Neutra Institute Secretary @sianwinship for bringing the show to this historic venue and the #silverlake community.

To hear about more events, follow us here and sign up for emails at Neutra.org.

Spirea, bear grass, mizuhiki and bearded iris from my garden in a Mas Ojima ceramic vessel.

My dear friend, Ricardo Reyes, Chicano artist, educator, activist, sent me this photograph from 2018 at the opening for “The Art of Protest: 50 Years of Activism” at the Church of the Epiphany in Lincoln Heights; the birthplace of the Chicano Movement and the headquarters for the UFW and Cesar Chavez. It was an honor to be asked to co-curate the exhibit, as the only female on the team a testament to El Movimiento working as one into the 21st Century and today needed more than ever! ✊🏼 Y… Si se puede!

An art exhibition exploring dualities through visual art, perfume and music, “Plateaus: Art That Resonates” is a multidisciplinary journey of art and craft, death and life, grief and love, and activity and stillness. This experience of bonded contrasts, sensorially reminds us that polarities are intrinsic and intertwined partners.

Hope to see you tonight where you’ll also have the opportunity to give me a bday hug 🤗🥰🥳
