I had the wonderful opportunity to visit the Little Hearts Market at Ravine Vineyard Estate Winery, and what a lovely experience it was! 🍇🤎

One of the best parts of visiting local markets is meeting the passionate people behind the businesses. I had the pleasure of meeting Sadie and connecting with other talented vendors such as @packsnacksniagara who bring so much creativity, care, and thought into the products they offer. From unique finds to beautiful creations, every table had its own story to tell.

As the founder of Sapna’s Surprise, I truly appreciate spaces that bring local businesses together, encourage meaningful connections, and give small brands the opportunity to share their work with the community. Every conversation, new connection, and shared smile is a reminder that building a business is about so much more than selling a product. It’s about people, passion, inspiration, and growing together. 💫

When I first started writing about sustainable food and wine, I would tell those I spoke to that yes, I want to know about your certifications, but what I really want to know is what you’re doing. Often, I spoke with wineries or food brands that had impressive sustainability efforts, but just didn’t want to jump through the hoops-hoops that often had nothing to do with their specific business-it took to get certified.

That’s one of the things I like about New York’s Sustainable Trustmark. It meets winemakers where they are, recognizes that what may be required on Long Island has no bearing on what may be required in the Finger Lakes, and encourages those who go for the Trustmark to continuously improve as they can.

For New York Wine & Grape Foundation, I spoke with several winemakers as well as wine journalist Shana Clarke, who frequently covers wine & sustainability, about what consumers care about when it comes to sustainability at a winery and how wineries can convey their care for the environment to those who show up to sip their wine.
