Nothing New: a meditation on sustainability and abundance
Where: Architecture & Landscape Architecture Library, 210 Rapson Hall. Minnesota artists, Rachel Breen @rbbreen and Tracy Krumm @tracyannkrumm share an exhibition of new work that originates from nothing new. Using materials at hand, gifted, salvaged, or grown, Breen and Krumm exemplify process and reiteration with textiles that are symbolic meditations on social critique, the politics of labor, and the inevitable question of beauty invoked by the mere essence of material. Hope you can see the exhibition! https://www.continuum.umn.edu/2021/09/nothing-new/

Today reaffirmed my faith that artists and art can contribute in immense ways to seeking justice for George Floyd and this movement. We knocked out 30+ banners that will be given to local businesses and protestors. These banners will be available at @phousetheatre in the coming days. This production would not have happened without @rbbreen @hapa9 @612icecube Thank you also to this star studded team of artists, friends, and kiddos - @edboklee @denmada @grannygrain @masaasam @alyssabaguss @nassassin @jo_nassif @blumtastic @4sktm @richfamilee @okumura_kenji @heewonfamilee @shacagempls @egbaileyartist & Bao Phi. Love you all for getting down with us. One more shout out to @reverie_mpls for the food!

Last year at this time I was honored to serve on a Sustainable Fashion panel during Fashion Revolution Week. This year due to Covid-19 @wearethreaded is hosting a virtual sustainable fashion forum tomorrow and you’re invited. It’s free + open to public. I’ll share more details in my stories. #fbf 📸: @petedriessen

Join me in an online collective #recycledart and #upcycledart project! ! 1) find a piece of used paper 2) fold and crease to make a square, turn the square to form a diamond 3) collect some recycled objects and —even better— useless ‘junk-drawer’ stuff that is non-recyclable. 4) arrange on the paper in a diamond format—with the edges of the diamond touching at the center of each side of the square Instagram frame. 5) tag me and yourself 6) hashtag #coronatessellations 7) the hashtag will form grids, I’ll use layout to create ‘feature’ grids and post to my story; make sure the hashtagged posts are ONLY in the single diamond format—if you want to post videos, instructions etc use your story or use the multi-picture function and start with the single diamond image) —that’s it: super easy #collaborativeart we make together! See my insta story for details or check my highlights PLEASE JOIN IN !!! #blackmountainathome

#Local #visualartist and #author #AnitaWhite says, “Thank you for yet another Wonderful Rimon [Artist Salon]. It was so inspiring and well presented. I was so moved by @robynawend 's poem and relationship to her ancestor Sam. I drew in those mystical sparks of connection on her drawing.” ✨
Thank you, Anita, for your #painted #drawings of the event.
