Usually my favorite part of Dragoncon is seeing all the amazing cosplay from everyone. This year, however, was different. The workshops and games were definitely the highlight of this year for me! The Swordplay and Stage Combat class by @rbchapin was incredible and I hope to take the intermediate class in the future! The two games we played (#mothership and #dungeoncrawlclassics ) were so fun. I learned SO MUCH with boro embroidery and wig making. These were such great opportunities that I highly recommend!!!

Earlier this year, I put a couple of film festival cards on my vision board with an intention to hopefully be part of the festival circuit this year. I put them up without giving it much thought, so it feels pretty wild to now find myself part of a film that was nominated at the @burbankfilmfest . Sometimes you really do just have to put it out there ✨✨

So grateful to @elsassypants for thinking of me for this project, and to @rbchapin and @davefx913 for creating it and trusting me to be a small part of it. It was such a small but mighty team, and it’s always inspiring to watch an idea go from someone’s head to the screen.

More than anything, this was a really sweet reminder of how much community matters. Getting to support your friends, show up for their ideas, and celebrate their wins together is one of the best parts of creating. So, also a huge shoutout to my dear friend @swendi.does.stuff for joining in the celebration!

Very happy I got to be a little part of this one, and very proud of you, Katie ❤️

Wild. Thank you @kevinbootphotography for the red carpet photos, and congratulations again to #XebaShortFilm for all of the success at @burbankfilmfest!

Last week was chock full of actor-y dreams come true, whilst being around folks deeply in love with film and performance. From classrooms to small theaters, to seeing my giant mug on the Burbank AMC 16 with my parents in the audience, I friggin loved it!

It’s been a weird few years in this business, but moments like these are a really nice respite from saying “Katie Hampton, 6 foot, LA-Based, reading for pregnant Werewolf #3”

✨ Meet the Filmmakers ✨

This is Bob Chapin (@rbchapin), writer and director of Xeba.

Inspired by learning to fly drones with a fellow filmmaker, Bob set out to create an homage to Steven Spielberg’s Duel. What began as a tense thriller soon evolved into a thought-provoking story exploring stalking, toxic online culture, and empowerment, brought to life by lead actress Katie Hampton.

Xeba follows a woman pursued by an autonomous drone across highways and coastline, with no backup and nowhere to hide. Guided only by a self-help tape teaching ancient survival tactics, she turns a high-tech hunt into a psychological showdown. A tense sci-fi thriller inspired by Spielberg’s Duel, Xeba explores endurance versus automation in the age of AI.

📍 Screening at the Burbank International Film Festival

What a dream come true to slackline on the Santa Monica Pier. When friends come together with passion and a mission, anything is possible. Thank you to everyone who spearheaded this mission and worked for months to make this happen.
I never knew how much I enjoyed performing until this weekend. What a joy to showcase the silliness and joy of slacklining to people visiting the pier... and to do it with the awesome community that I love so much!!
To slackfinity and beyond!

A year ago, Jim and I attended the city’s @smpier360 festival and scoped out potential highlines on the pier. We told ourselves that by next year, we’d have a highline on the pier. With all the sports showcased at the festival and Original Muscle Beach (OMB) being such a global hub for slacklining, it only made sense. Why shouldn’t the pier have its own iconic highline? 🎡

It wasn’t only our dream but also of many members of the OMB slackline community for YEARS! After realizing there was already momentum behind the idea, we formed a team of five, each bringing the unique skills this project required.

After six months of coordination and relationship building with the @cityofsantamonica , we finally received approval right down to the wire!! With last-minute approval and the unwavering support of the City of Santa Monica who worked tirelessly to review and approve us, we pulled off something truly 𝒉𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒄!

I can’t thank our team, performers, media crew, friends, and family enough for helping turn this dream into reality. You made this event pure magic. This event has opened up so many doors and we’re so excited to see what the future holds! Stay tuned!!

What an epic weekend it was on the Santa Monica Pier for the Santa Monica 360 event. The Original Muscle Beach slackers managed to get a highline to be rigged across the ocean, for a highline exhibition. It was a great time getting photos and hanging out with friends. Also, last night ended with a dance party at the Green. Have a good week everyone. 🌴🌞🤗⛱️ #sonyalpha #santamonica #santamonicapier #highline #SantaMonicaPier360

So tonight was pretty cool. Thank you @rbchapin and @drjesscail @davefx913, for an incredible night on the town!

I have seen my face in many screens both small and big, but tonight it was VERY big on that screen! Wild, utterly wild, shrunk in my chair for most of it but hell, wild to hear a live response!

Thank you so much @culvercityff for having #Xeba on your roster tonight! May the rest of the festival go swimmingly! And @jasmine_delafuente I saw that short, girl! NICE work!!

Decided that today was the day to get over a big fear. Thanks to @grlswirl for giving me the courage to try a pump track for the first time at age 54. #nevertoooldforfun
