ACTRA Toronto just had a hard reset. Nearly every reform candidate won, but a few key independents also made it through showing members wanted change, but didn't blindly follow a slate. What does this mean for performers, auditions, and union decisions over the next two years? Save this reel and stay tuned.

Today is the last day to vote! I’ve already voted for the entire RCAP slate — along with a few other candidates I know will fight for performer rights and real reform within ACTRA.

(Some of what’s below comes from conversations I’ve had with RCAP members — sharing here so others can understand what they’re about — A little lengthy but worth the read!)👇🏼

Why RCAP matters:
At the start of the lockout, several original RCAP members gave their time and energy trying to help — but the union chose to go to the labour board instead. That decision cost a lot and didn’t bring agencies back to the table.

RCAP was born out of that crisis — out of frustration that many performers weren’t being heard. Over time, it became clear that ACTRA needs reform, transparency, and accountability to truly represent its members.

What RCAP is:
RCAP is an independent caucus — a group of ACTRA members who meet outside the official union structure to share concerns and work toward solutions. They’re not a separate union. They’re proud ACTRA members who want to strengthen ACTRA.

Our right to meet independently comes from ACTRA’s own constitution, which protects members’ freedom of assembly — the right to organize around shared goals.

RCAP doesn’t use union staff time or resources. Like any caucus, they can run a slate — members who share the same goals and values and run together as a team. It’s a time-tested labour movement tool that helps members coordinate, amplify priorities, and make change happen strategically.

Voting for a slate doesn’t mean you have to vote for everyone — it simply gives that team a stronger collective voice.
RCAP is guided by core union principles: democracy, member power, transparency, and renewal.

This isn’t about division — it’s about accountability, rebuilding trust, and making ACTRA stronger for everyone.

✉️ Today’s the last day to vote — your voice matters.

This is me. Pure joy at organizing #ACTRA to be the strong union we envision for members. I know this collaborative team on the @rcaporganize Slate and our +4 endorsed w/permission are doers, thinkers, givers and conscientious leaders who know the way forward to gaining more work opportunities for #ACTRA members is WITH ACTRA members. A successful, thriving union happens with labour focus, collaborative, inclusive mindsets. And leaders who show up again and again and again as RCAP leaders here have done. The real deal. No hiding behind agendas. No tokenizing. No saying one thing to members and another in closed door meetings. No top down decisions. No big movements without the direction of members. No movement that doesn’t directly benefit members. Only forwarding actions. Only actions that grow our union to be a leading powerhouse in our industry. Not because we say it. Because it is. Facts. Data. Clear communications. True inclusivity. Building solidarity and not ever asking to just trust us. We got this when we’ve lead with the members riding with us every step of the way. And this team will do that. #Vote until Nov 11 5pm.
