DNA had a blast at the BlackStar Film Festival in Philadelphia, PA this weekend! Our 2024 Fellows and Producers were able to join virtually as we watched amazing films, networked with industry creatives, and sat in on thought provoking panels.

Not only did we have a great time, but we learned so much. Film festivals help us grow and innovate incredible programming for DNA.

We can’t wait to come back next year. Thank you @blackstarfest !

Recap Idlewild International Film Festival 2024 with us!

Did you know that during segregation, Idlewild, Michigan was one of the few places that African Americans could own property and vacation freely? Because of its freedom, Idlewild became a thriving resort and nightlife community.

The DNA team were able to watch amazing films showcased and the opportunity to network with Black filmmakers and storytellers. Our Executive Artistic Director, Ryan Pearson, was also able to present “A Seat at the Table: An exploration of the history and contributions of Black Women Directors in American Cinema”.

Thank you @idlewildfilmfest team for all of your work in making this a success. We can’t wait to attend next year!

Films Showcased:
Enfield: What Is Inherited
Sydney G. James: How We See Us
