The 2009 Burton UnInc ๐Ÿ– (technically the 2008-2009 release) is a legendary, freestyle-focused snowboard that holds an iconic status in snowboard history. It marks the final official UnInc edition produced by Burton before the core rider-driven sub-division (led by pro riders JP Solberg, Romain de Marchi, DCP, and Gigi Ruฬˆf) was disbanded, later evolving into the independent rider-owned brand YES. Snowboards.

The 2009 model won the prestigious TransWorld Snowboarding Good Wood Award and is highly celebrated for its distinct visual aesthetic and technological innovations of that era.

Key Specifications & Technology

The Channel (ICS): This board was among the early wave of models featuring Burton's Infinite Channel System. It offered micro-adjustable stance options and maximum board feel, specifically optimized for Burton's EST bindings.

Glow-in-the-Dark Graphics: One of the most famous visual features of the 2009 line was that sections of both the topsheet and the base graphics glowed in the dark.

Crescent Tips & Elliptical Kicks: The unique crescent-shaped cutouts in the nose and tail reduced swing weight and added extra float in powder without compromising its true-twin freestyle performance.

Flex & Pop: Built with a Carbon I-Beam backbone and Dual Density Triax Response fiberglass, it delivered immense pop for jumps while maintaining a playful, pressable medium flex (around 4/10).

Size Lineup: The board was available in 153, 155, 157, 159, and 161 CM. Following UnInc tradition, each size featured slight graphical variations, often continuing their iconic animal themes (such as the UnInc pigs).

As the definitive closing chapter of Burton's most influential, rebellious sub-brand, the 2009 UnInc remains a highly prized collector's item for snowboard enthusiasts today.

Ps. still looking for the 155 to complete the set ๐Ÿง (willing to trade ๐Ÿ‚)

The 2005 Burton UnInc Romain de Marchi (156 cm)โ€”popularly known as the pink "Pulp68" editionโ€”is arguably a legendary, controversial, and highly sought-after snowboard in the history of the sport.

It perfectly encapsulated the raw, anti-establishment, punk-rock ethos of the early UnInc crew (Romain de Marchi, Gigi Ruฬˆf, DCP, and JP Solberg).

Why This Board is a Holy Grail for Collectors

The "Pigs & Cops" Graphics: Designed in close collaboration with the Swiss underground shop Pulp68. The base features a provocative cartoon depicting a farmer alongside pigs dressed in police uniforms. This anti-authoritarian imagery reportedly infuriated Burtonโ€™s corporate management. According to snowboard lore, Burton halted production early or recalled specific batches, creating massive artificial scarcity.

The Exclusive Pink Top Sheet: In the 2005 UnInc lineup, each pro rider was assigned a specific board length and colorway. The neon pink top sheet belonged exclusively to Romain de Marchi and was produced solely in his preferred pro-size of 156 cm.

The "Mirror" Myth: A notorious community rumor surrounds the board's shiny, reflective chrome detailing. Legend has it that Romain requested the mirror finish specifically so he could use it as a surface for "party powders" while checking his own reflection.

Technical Specifications & Riding Traits

This board was an absolute freestyle weapon, built for riders whoโ€”like Romainโ€”relied on brute power, high speeds, and massive airtime:

Shape: True Twin-Tip (completely symmetrical for switch riding).

Profile: Traditional Camber for maximum edge hold, aggressive pop, and stability.

Flex: Intensely stiff (noticeably stiffer than the 2004 debut version) to withstand heavy impacts and high-consequence landings.

The 2X Transition System: The 2005 model debuted Burton's experimental 2X system. It featured a metal track with only two screw inserts per binding. While it offered infinite stance adjustments and served as the direct evolutionary ancestor to today's Burton Channel, the early tracks were notorious for stripping or tearing out under extreme stress.
