POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Dear Jodi,

Well, I have loved you for years and years and years and now I love you even more. 😂 I could’ve listened to you talk all night.

You seriously need to do a one-woman show. All your stories about books and life, funny one minute and serious the next….you’re an amazing storyteller, and it was so cool getting to hear it all in person.

There is no one quite like you, Jodi. I am here for all of it.

Book Review: It’s Not Her by Mary Kubica

My Rating: 🤩🤩🤩🤩

This was a solid four-star read for me. It kept me guessing, kept me entertained, and gave me exactly the kind of bingeable thriller I was hoping for.

But the best part? I had the absolute pleasure of meeting the beautiful Mary Kubica in person with Katy! ❤️ There’s just something extra special about reading a book after getting to meet the person behind it and she was every bit as lovely as I hoped she’d be.

? I love a bookish adventure - do you have a favorite bookish moment? Tell me about it. ❤️

📖 THE DINNER PARTY — Freida McFadden

Remember those Choose Your Own Adventure books? I used to love those as a kid!

The Dinner Party lets YOU make the choices and considering my decision-making skills in thrillers, everyone should probably be concerned.

My copy is currently making its way around book club like a traveling murder adventure. Katy is up next! The plan is to annotate it as we go, so each person gets to make their choices while also discovering everyone else’s reactions, theories, questionable decisions, and WTF moments in the margins. 😂

It’s basically part book, part game, part book-club time capsule and such a fun change of pace.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for the experience alone.

❔ Are you making the sensible choice… or opening the creepy basement door? 🔪😂

🔎 TTBC Member Review 🕵🏻‍♀️

▪️Member: Katy @reading2relax
▪️Book: Woodworking by Emily St. James
▪️Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

▪️Review:
This was June’s book club pick for
@tecumsehthrillerbookclub. It received decent ratings for those of us who finished and all around lead to some good conversations. I liked reading about two different women who were in very different stages of life and in their transition. Abigail is seventeen years old and already confident in who she is - she definitely knows who she’s not. Erica, in her mid thirties is just now being true to herself and struggling to find her way. The contrast was evident but they also had things in common.

I will say I wasn’t the biggest fan of a 35 year old *teacher* putting all their emotions, trauma, confusion on a 17 year old *student* the way Erica did. It just felt like a lot of very heavy things to ask a child to hold. I know that there is a lot of grey area in life, I just found this line too blurry.

Silly me expected this book to have something to do with literal woodworking but the title is more of a metaphor for fading into the woodwork. “What happens once we disappear into the woodwork?” It was something I wasn’t expecting but loved.

I definitely recommend reading Woodworking.
It was insightful, intriguing, and there were a lot of heartwarming moments.
