I found @readthevibebc on TikTok, and took a chance by RSVPing and showing up without knowing anyone! I found my #BookTok community and I am beyond blown away by this amazing event they put together to discuss #Verity by @colleenhoover

The next book has been selected! I cannot wait to dig in to the next read of the month.

BOOK CLUB READ OF JUNE ✨

@readthevibe
———
Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez —

a contemporary romance about two people who agree to date for one summer to break a bizarre dating curse. What begins as a lighthearted arrangement soon turns into something much more meaningful as they confront their pasts and unexpected feelings.

☀️ Funny, heartfelt, and emotional with plenty of romance. 💕

I felt like the book club girlies had a lot of thoughts on this book. This is a perfect story to discuss and talk thoroughly about.

✨A DNF turned READ ✨

This just so happened to be @readthevibe book of the month (April) —love those girls so much.

Mexican Gothic is a haunting gothic horror novel about a young woman, Noemí Taboada, who travels to a mysterious mansion in 1950s Mexico to investigate her cousin’s disturbing letters, only to uncover terrifying family secrets, eerie hallucinations, and a sinister house that seems alive.

Haunting of Hill House meets The Last Of Us???

That's the vibe I got. 🍄👻

It's easy to forget that this book is SLOW because of its genre. Gothic novels are generally slow burns because they primarily focus on the setting, the atmosphere, the tension, and the over all unease of the story.

Then they hit you with the plot twist that usually is more impactful BECAUSE you spent so much time with these characters.

If you are going into this book thinking it's a fast paced thriller/horror. Think again!

🍄🍄🍄🍄/5 Mushrooms from me!

This one was a 3/5 for me ⭐⭐⭐. The ending is what brought it up from a 2.

I really appreciate what the author was trying to do with this story. It tackles a very sensitive subject, and honestly, you don’t need any personal trauma for it to feel heavy. I also appreciated that it was short, because it was emotionally difficult to get through.

Looking forward to the next meeting! ✨
