10 days in LA!!! My first trip to my second home was packed and glorious. I stayed in our Glendale pied a terre, and started to find a rhythm in this newly launched bicoastal life. Highlights to follow! Visiting with pie & chocolate lover AND and future mayor of Los Angeles @nithyaforthecity I'm napkin famous!! Thanks to @guittardchocolate for a great event! @realchefdeblee opened an amazing market/restaurant GO GO GO Mokja Gas prices are gross Celebrating the launch of DEAR DREAMER with these glorious ladies @frankandeileen @audreymcloghlin You are the best! Yes to supporting entrepreneurs at the high school level. Yes to educating young women about finance 🙌🏼❤️ The whole menu, please. Roast cabbage with garlic chutney is insanely delicious LOLO's for life!! Former neighbors, Forever Family ❤️ A 3.5 hour date that could have continued into the morning. Love you @lientigre @foundoyster makes every moment special. Their expansion is darling!! My first night out with these two. My whole heart. The Best of LA Love cooking at events, and @ombrello.agency @sohohouse are the 🥇 She does love a 🎤!!!

Tomorrow is our FOURTH Música y Poemas festival, and I’m feeling a little sentimental about how much this celebration has grown. One of my favorite things about this event is seeing the relationships that make it possible come together in real time. Last month, @nelasbn cofounder @labellatini took Inglewood legend @dsmoke7 around the Fig strip of Highland Park to meet some of the incredible women behind our local businesses, including @realchefdeblee of @yicha_la (who will be giving out free yuzu lemonade and stickers for the kiddos tomorrow!). I was honored to meet him as he experienced the beauty of HLP, and now he’s coming back for a special performance at Música y Poemas tomorrow. And of course, we couldn’t celebrate Highland Park without our very own @reverielove, born and raised in HLP coming home to headline! We both attended Franklin High School so having her perform is extra special to me. These are artists who carry their communities with them, and tomorrow we’re bringing them together to celebrate the people and neighborhoods that give LA its soul. Tomorrow is gonna be a special one, fam. I hope I see you there.

✨🍜 WHAT AN INCREDIBLE NIGHT FOR AN INCREDIBLE CAUSE! 🌱💚 So honored to be part of @foodforward’s Tomorrow’s Table fundraiser, celebrating the legendary @alicelouisewaters — a true culinary icon and pioneer of the farm-to-table movement! 👏❤️ My amazing @wokstarcatering team and I had a blast serving up our signature Miso Butter Udon Noodles with Shiitake Mushrooms to 250+ guests! 🍜🍄 We were thrilled to cook alongside an incredible lineup of talented chefs @realchefdeblee @clemencegourmandise @chefdarayu @emilylaurae @alyssagartenberg @chefmichelle_and_company @seedy______ @alansanz_c @hatchethall all coming together to support Food Forward’s mission of fighting hunger and food waste while nourishing our communities. 💚 One of the biggest highlights of the evening? I donated TWO private dumpling-making classes to the live auction, which together raised OVER $7,000! 🥟🎉🙌 Nothing makes me happier than using my love of food to give back! Huge thanks to @jessiebrucee @nanhsu and the entire team at @foodforward for bringing together chefs, changemakers, and food lovers for such a meaningful evening and a big shoutout to my Wok Star volunteers @annbkoh @lewkcbmom @amy_von_s @amykesselhaut @hanpham142 @feliciaford 👏👏👏 Special thanks to @melissasproduce for providing the luscious shiitake mushrooms and other produce 🫛🧅🥕 Good food. SUP. Y’all ever sipped a shishito-brine martini garnished with yakitori? This, truffled steak donburi, plenty of yaki and other fun cocktails can be found at @izakayatoki.la, a new Japanese restaurant inside the former Shibumi space. It’s one of TWENTY new spots to check out in October, which my colleague @danielledorky and I just published on @latimesfood. Or maybe the excellent aguachiles and fish tacos at @aguachilesyasada, from the couple formerly behind Correa’s Market, is more your speed? What about @flourpizzeria, whose Palisades Fire-spurred loss of their og space hasn’t stopped them from spreading NY-style pizza to Brentwood and now, more recently, Burbank? Maybe you haven’t heard about @gable.la, the new restaurant inside @thehollywoodroosevelt, where @chris___flint is reimagining a few L.A. flavors and @chaddaustin is serving some of my favorite cocktails I’ve had in a minute? And maybe you heard that @holybasil_la just closed its og downtown space, but they’ve just relocated to bigger digs in the arts district, where you can order their wild Thai burger from a takeout window and now, in the newly opened dining room, tuck into a traditional lunch set or more modern dishes like khao soi paccheri. And maybe you haven’t yet heard that @realchefdeblee just debuted a Korean cafe and mini market in the alley behind her highland park pocha, and that she’s serving sweet corn lattes, oxtail hand pies, pork belly BLTs, refrigerated mandu and more. Chef @realchefdeblee is the founder of Korean pub @yicha_la and Korean market and café @eatmokja in Highland Park, and she catered @gyopo.us’ 8th Annual Chuseok Benefit this year! 👩‍🍳🌕 GYOPO is a volunteer-powered nonprofit that brings together artists, creatives, and cultural producers from the Korean diaspora through free programs, exhibitions, talks, screenings, and community events in LA and beyond. Their annual Chuseok Benefit helps fund that programming and brings the community together around one of Korea’s biggest holidays.
