Wow! What an amazing few weeks it has been on Newfangled. I have been spoiled for choice with songs AND guests. Interview #1 came a few weeks back with 4-piece post punk rockers @bennetts.grove who are 3/3 for singles in 2026. They have another 3 on the way when they drop their self-titled EP on 1 October. They are also going on a national tour which includes a stop at the Landsdowne on 30 October. Must see! Interview #2 with @sweeping.promises, another post punk duo from Laurence, Kansas. They’ve dropped one of the best rock albums of the year with their noisy, catchy, lo-fi new record. It is called You Say I Romanticise. Must listen! Interview #3 with @kinggizzard. Crazy! King Gizz were the first Aus band I loved and Flightless was the first label I felt I “discovered”. The album covers, the coloured vinyl, the sprawling live show were seared into my brain from a young age. The music is good too. They have just dropped their 28th studio album, a true techno album titled Alien Metal. They play 2 sold out shows on October 14 at the Hordern and Liberty Hall, with the latter being a late rave set. Sold out but must attend! Everything is at the link in bio, will be back on the air as always this sat from 8-10am. Other big things coming soon as well…

happy two years to us 💖 there’s no one in this world i’d rather be with, and that’s a promise! we went camping this year, got bogged in a creek and slept in the twuck right in that very same creek (pictured) eventually getting pulled out by two strangers and making our way to the right campsite. normally that would be horrible news, but it made it all the more fun for us, and another reminder of why i adore her so much. i made a song for olive that would play when she opened a card and she told me to release it - so it’s out on bandcamp and the other services whenever they decide to do it, i only just uploaded it. teehee love you 😘

💫TWELVE POINT BUCK + WATSON + SMUSKO TONIGHT 6/8 7.30PM 💫 Twelve Point Buck are a 4 piece band based in the blue mountains region of NSW, Australia. First started in 2014 whilst procrastinating assignments, TPB grew slowly and organically over the course of a few months evolving from a recording project into a full fledged band of quiet people who were dared to go outside for a bit. "We try to make fuzzy music, the kind we’d like to listen to. We have been called grunge, space rock, indie, surf rock - but I’m sure you’ll agree that doesn't mean much.Once we were told by an industry person that after we’ve played for a bit longer our style should become more focused or clear. That was like 2015; we’re doing more odd stuff than ever." TPB’s music is identifiable as having heavy, juxtaposing dynamics between verse and choruses, lofi/DIY aesthetics and thicc, catchy melodies to boogie too. Free Entry Music from 7.30pm Open from Midday

Some of the many beautiful faces that made Whim, Whim! So it is true what they say (that getting your friends and their friend's friends and their friends of friends together in one space to celebrate making cool stuff is actually really wholesome and delightful). Coincidentally this was also a gathering of the entire world's population of hot people, which was a feat in itself.

Outside @shut___the_front_______gate I was outside the venue because I needed a nicotine hit. Instantly ran into @_noddingviolets . I remembered her @thornprickgirl project inspired by Laura Palmer, so I offered her one of my ciggies because they’re always meant to be shared. A few weeks ago, at a house party, the Laura Palmer photo frame fell off the wall out of nowhere. I still haven’t had the chance to watch Twin Peaks, but hopefully soon 🤞 ANYWAY Ended up taking portraits of @abby_may_malone and @oscar.bryne . The queen and king of the night.

At least 4 of these beautiful people will be LIVE on-stage TONIGHT at the place with the big blue speakers for which I yearn, to celebrate a new song. This deserves celebration. @realfakewatson @theeveleighhotel
