Chicago Day 3 (Monday, 3/24/25)! We didn't do much today because we did so much the last 2 days so we visited Rob's Chiropractic School and went to Joann's and he took a nap while I read. And then we drove into the city, couldn't find the parking garage entrance so eventually parked in a different one who's entrance was so steep I had to close my eyes and be anxious about Rob driving down it (which he very safely did). And then we got a quick dinner and went on a 2ish hour Chicago crime & mobster bus tour and learned a bunch about the history of Chicago, especially the original gangsters!

Photos of the same 2 buildings in different lighting because they were cool and I liked them.

If you're in Chicago, definitely do the Crime bus night tour. It was worth the $50+ each!

Vacation started last night (Friday, 3/21) with the Inaugural Color & Light Festival in Asbury Park where artists created animations set to EDM that incorporated the architecture of the building it was being projected on to. It was a really neat art experience and it was free! (Except for gas and tolls and parking, but 🤷🏻‍♀️).

Today was our official start to vacation! And what a start it was!
1. We sat on the runway for over an hour before we actually took off because of "congestion".
2. There was a medical emergency on the plane and they called for a doctor and medical services met us at the gate so we all had to wait for that before being allowed out of our seats.
3. We needed to take the elevator in our hotel to get to the second floor because of our luggage and the elevator made a loud BANG and shook up and down and then stopped moving so we went from thinking we were going to die to thinking we were stuck. We are exclusively taking the stairs here now.
4. At Millennium Park, after seeing the Bean a student asked me to help him with a poetry/photography assignment and that was super fun even though he originally thought it was gonna be weird.
5. We then took the correct bus going the wrong way and it was filled with people who had just celebrated Holi and were covered in color and all happy and couldn't stop singing, so honestly? That was the best mistake. It was so fun.
6. We then had dinner and walked around Navy Pier for a bit.
7. We got off at the wrong train stop and had to get off and go back one stop.

Also, we've been up since 4:30am EST after falling asleep at midnight.

My parents had never been to the Falls in Paterson and today was another 65 degree day in January so I took them and it was BEAUTIFUL. It's a mini Niagara Falls right in my backyard and it was a lovely adventure!
