Some projects are the result of in-depth study and research; others simply emerge from the profound simplicity of the craft—from the simple, natural act of creation.
There are things that shouldn't be forced.

That is why I invite anyone who wishes to join me on Saturday, September 26, at Better Space in Orlando Florida, to share the love I have for working on canvas, and creative art.

My intend is to share that intimate side of the creative process—of working on a canvas—with you.

I will be painting live, and sharing about the creative process of my work.

I look forward to seeing you and sharing this experience with you.

Another Back to School event in the books ❤️

This year, Campaign Zero joined @winnyc_org to welcome more than 400 kids and 250 parents for an afternoon centered on community, creativity, and starting the school year feeling supported. Across seven stations, kids spent time creating, learning, and having fun before heading home with school supplies and a lunch box with a reminder inside to go be amazing this year.

And this year, parents had something just for them, too. At our “Sea Yourself” station, they could take a moment to decorate a mirror with words of affirmation and leave with a reminder of their own worth and strength.

Every child deserves to begin the school year feeling prepared, seen, and valued, and every family deserves to know their community is behind them.

Thank you to @winnyc_org for welcoming us back and for the care and dignity you bring to families every day. We’re grateful to be part of it, and can’t wait to “sea” you next year! 🐟

Black history lives through people ✊🏿

These portraits from our community celebration at @studio_be_ remind us that the work of preserving memory, building community, and creating change has always been carried by people showing up for one another.

We’re grateful to everyone who shared this space with us.

This is a story about…

What it looks like when people invest in one another.

Stay with me.

Every swipe reveals another piece of the story.

Before we begin, two things.

1. By the end of this story, I’m going to ask you to financially support an organization I deeply believe in.

2. If giving isn’t possible today, I completely understand. But if this story moves you, I’d be grateful if you’d like it, share it, or pass it along.

Let’s all do one good thing today.

I’m always filled with immense gratitude when I have the opportunity to lift up the people and places that first lifted me.

Fresh Supply is one of those places.

Nearly a decade ago, I met my dear brother, David Jones.

Neither of us could have imagined where that friendship would lead.

Over the years, I’ve watched David and his incredible sister, Jasmine Jones, build many remarkable things.

Among the most meaningful has been Fresh Supply.

What I’ve admired most isn’t simply the organization they’ve built.

It’s the way they’ve continually made room for others to build alongside them.

I’ve been fortunate to be one of those people.

Across Fall 2024 and Spring 2025, Fresh Supply partnered with my graduate Capstone at Columbia University.

Together, more than 50 graduate students helped develop two real-world strategies that helped shape Fresh Supply’s End E-Waste campaign.

Watching those ideas move from classroom conversations into a real-world initiative has been one of the most rewarding moments of my teaching career.

I also had the privilege of serving as both host and performer for Fresh Supply’s Seed Gala…

Celebrating an organization I’ve come to deeply admire.

But what stays with me most…

Isn’t the campaign.

It isn’t the presentations.

It’s the students.

Every summer, Fresh Supply invests in young people by paying them to learn…

To grow…

To develop technical and professional skills…

And to imagine bigger futures for themselves.

I’ve been around a lot of organizations.

Fresh Supply does the work.

The quiet work.

The patient work.

The kind of work that changes lives long before it changes headlines.

So yes…

This is the part where I ask.

If you’ve ever appreciated my work…

During Big Bets for America in Cleveland, Campaign Zero brought a group of leaders from the city and across the country to the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center.

They spent time with the young people there, hearing from them directly and learning more about what support can look like both during incarceration and after they return home.

Our work in Cuyahoga County is rooted in a simple belief: young people deserve to be seen, supported, and given real opportunities to imagine what comes next.

Because when we say all kids, we have to mean all kids.

We recently hosted a site visit of leaders from Cleveland and around the country to the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center. We wanted community leaders to be in community with the kids and learn ways they can help them both now and post incarceration.

It was powerful for everyone involved. We can win, together.

And when we say all kids, it must means all kids.

On May 29 in St. Louis, we gathered to honor the 2026 Michael O.D. Brown Memorial Scholarship recipients, 30 incredible young people carrying forward purpose, promise, and possibility.

In partnership with @modbwlosd and Mike’s mother, Lezley McSpadden, we proudly awarded $3,000 scholarships to St. Louis–area students pursuing higher education in social justice, the performing arts, and skilled trades.

Join us in celebrating this year’s recipients and the future they’re building. More from this special evening coming soon.

Maryland just passed one of the most significant updates to parole in a generation.

On May 12, Governor Wes Moore signed House Bill 467 / Senate Bill 822 into law, creating consistent parole hearing schedules for every parole-eligible person across the state. Beginning October 1, many people will be guaranteed a parole hearing not later than every two years, and no one will wait longer than five years.

The law also strengthens reporting requirements, automates access to parole records, requires clearer justifications for parole decisions, extends the time to appeal, and ensures parole hearings are recorded and retained.

Read more about what this new law changes and why it matters at the link in our bio.
