New Exhibition: 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘭: 𝘍𝘪𝘦𝘭𝘥 𝘕𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘴 | Online Group Exhibition

The intertidal is a zone defined by absence and return. Twice daily the sea withdraws, and the shore is briefly revealed as something other than land: a threshold, neither wholly exposed nor wholly submerged. It is a place of constant revision, which also works in the interval between what was and what is about to be.
We started with a single call for entry – To the Sea was the subject. Over three hundred photographers from the Griffin community responded to the proposition of where we fit between the land and sea, and the resulting images move across the full range of the ocean’s temperament.

𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘭: 𝘍𝘪𝘦𝘭𝘥 𝘕𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘴 extends that vision from the gallery wall to the page. Conceived as a companion piece to the in person exhibition filled with just as much force and power of nature.

What emerges is less a survey of the sea than a portrait of our pull toward it. We wander, and we return to the edge.

Congratulations to the selected artists!

ICONIC × DEHAZED brings together a diverse selection of contemporary photographic works exploring the poetic, unexpected and sometimes surreal ways we see the world.
Moving between portraits, beauty, fashion, atmospheric landscapes, evocative still lifes and conceptual imagery, the exhibition invites us to slow down and look differently. The photographs transform familiar subjects into something more mysterious creating images that feel suspended between reality, memory and a dream. Across the exhibition, photography becomes a space for experimentation: underwater, human presence, landscapes, objects, light and texture come together to create distinct visual worlds.

Dreamed up especially for @photovogue #pvmondaysunshine
I admit I’m sometimes uncomfortable including my face, but I also have a birdcage on my head so…

A Bird, But Not Free

It’s been my little mantra for two decades.
“I am a bird”
It’s my response to any circumstance or obligation which threatens my freedom to go where I want and do what I want.
My first and only tattoo is a geometric swallow (it’s there on my wrist).
My husband will even say it back to me whenever a potential commitment presents itself: “I know, I know. You’re a bird.”

However, during this midlife crashing and untangling of oppressions and half-truths and bold faced lies about womanhood, gender roles, the mirage of “beauty”, and all of it, I have become more and more concerned I have never been the free kind of bird at all.
