I think one of the things I’m looking forward to most about having this baby is those first few weeks at home 🥹🤎 Obviously with two other little ones running around I know it’s not going to be all slow mornings and newborn cuddles haha, but I’m really hoping to be able to soak up as much of it as possible.

I’ve been using @recime.app to organise all my recipes and plan out our meals for the week. It even makes a grocery list from the meals I’ve chosen, and I can tick off anything we already have at home, which is so handy because I swear deciding what to cook and what groceries we need is half the work haha.

If you’re wanting to do a little freezer prep yourself, you can find my whole fourth trimester recipe collection through the link in my bio! 🤎

Shortcut Shepherd’s Pie

If you’re looking for an easy, comforting dinner without spending hours in the kitchen, this Shortcut Shepherd’s Pie is a must-try! Made with seasoned ground beef, a rich, savory gravy, and buttery, cheesy mashed potatoes, this is the perfect weeknight dinner the whole family will love! 🤍

I’m partnering with @recime.app to bring you another easy, family-friendly dinner!

Ingredients
For the Beef Filling:
1 lb ground beef
1 onion, diced
1 tsp garlic powder
½ tsp salt
½ tsp paprika
¼ tsp black pepper
Buttery garlic & herb seasoning, optional
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 tbsp tomato paste & worchestershire sauce
1½ cups beef stock
1½ cups frozen peas and carrots

For the Mashed Potato Topping:
1 family-size bag instant buttery mashed potatoes
1 tbsp butter
⅔ cup shredded cheese
½ tbsp butter, melted, for topping
Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 400°F. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef. Add the garlic powder, salt, paprika, black pepper, and optional buttery garlic & herb seasoning. Stir in the diced onion and cook until softened.
Sprinkle the flour over the beef mixture and stir to combine. Cook for 1–2 minutes, then add the tomato paste, beef stock, and frozen peas and carrots, stirring until well combined.
Reduce the heat to medium-low and bring to a gentle simmer. Cook until the gravy begins to thicken, stirring occasionally. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed.
Transfer the beef mixture to a casserole dish, spreading it into an even layer.
Prepare the instant mashed potatoes according to the package directions. Stir in 1 tbsp butter and ⅔ cup shredded cheese until creamy and combined.
Spread the mashed potatoes evenly over the beef mixture. Brush the top with ½ tbsp melted butter.
Bake at 400°F for 10–15 minutes, or until heated through and lightly golden on top. Garnish with fresh parsley, serve, and enjoy!
Shortcut Tip: Using instant buttery mashed potatoes makes this comfort food classic so much easier to throw together on a busy weeknight!
