Last Friday’s Pouring Into Her was more than a supply drive or fundraiser, it was a powerful reminder of what community can do when we come together. ✨

After hearing the news about the @ywcashr women’s shelters being impacted by the federal funding halt, my heart knew I had to give. As a former board member, I was already planning to donate but when @iamkimwimbishpr shared the vision God placed on her heart to support our sister Michelle Ellis Young, I said yes without hesitation, and we got to work. 🧡

In less than 30 days, we welcomed over 500 women to the Harrison Opera House for an evening of purpose, connection, and collective impact. We didn’t just fill the bus… we also raised over $50,000.

To everyone who attended, donated, volunteered, and sponsored your generosity reminded me that even in the hardest moments, women rise for one another. Thank you for pouring in with so much love, intention, and purpose; your YES created impact that will be felt long after this moment. 💐

🎒📚 What an exciting first day of school for Norfolk Public Schools!

I had a great time visiting schools, greeting students, and celebrating alongside School Board Member Jodi Slaughter, Councilwoman Mamie Johnson, Superintendent Dr. Jeff Rose, and so many incredible community partners, including Community First, the Booker T. Washington Alumni Association, Norfolk Police Department, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. — Norfolk Virginia Beach Chapter.

This year's message says it perfectly: Every Piece Matters. 🧩

Our students are at the center, but their success takes all of us, educators, staff, families, community partners, and neighbors, working together.

To our students: You matter. Your dreams matter. Your future matters. Here's to an amazing school year!

One Team. One Purpose. Every Student. Every Piece Matters. 💙
