Natural oak is used throughout this interior as a timeless material palette. The warmth and texture of the darker stained oak floor contrasts with the lighter oak for the bespoke joinery.

The emphasis here is on carefully selected durable materials that will retain their character and withstand the traffic of daily life.

taking on the curve.

Working within the geometry established by Piers Gough’s kidney-shaped building near the Tate Modern, we responded with an open, flowing sequence of spaces. The room to room relationships extend into the walk-in shower and wardrobe. Soft curves reflect the light, while their gentle transitions follow the natural ergonomics of movement through the spaces.

Positioned in full view of the bed, a double door draws the eye through to the primary bathroom beyond, so it was important that the two spaces felt harmonious.

Microcement wraps the bathroom wall to ceiling in a tone that echoes the bedroom’s paint colour, letting one calm palette carry across the threshold.

Rather than reaching for typical bathroom accessories, we brought in pieces you would expect to find anywhere else in the house: an antique picture frame reimagined as a mirror, adding warmth and a sense of history, and a 19th century mahogany tripod table beside the bath, offering extra storage while treating the room as somewhere to linger rather than simply a functional space.

Throughout the house, the floorboards change direction from room to room, a quiet structural cue that subtly delineates each space.

Varying board widths add architectural interest, offering another detail that rewards attention.

Primary bedroom is bathed in tonal textiles - mohair, moire, linen, merino wool - creating a soft, enveloping space.
A Victorian satinwood and amboyna card table in the bay window acts as an occassional desk.

Our Commercial Director, Claire, comments on the new partnership: “From our very first conversations with the team at Re:claimed, it was clear that their focus is on generating quality enquiries that contribute to real business growth. That’s exactly how we like to work. While visibility and rankings play an important role, our strategy will always be centred around attracting the right audience and delivering measurable commercial results. We’re excited to be partnering with Re Flooring and supporting their growth ambitions over the months ahead.”

Andres, Head of Marketing at Re:claimed: “We’re not focused on rankings for the sake of rankings. For us, success is about getting qualified enquiries and connecting with the right customers. As we continue to grow Re:claimed Flooring, we’re looking forward to working with TAL Agency to get us better online visibility, drive the right traffic to our website, and ultimately create more opportunities for the business. The staircase that changed everything 🤍

Once a grand listed 19th-century villa, cut into three homes by developers 20 years ago - and in our part, they installed a massive glass and steel staircase (last pics). Monumental, incongruous, and wasting an extraordinary amount of space on every single floor. Removing it was the decision that made everything else possible.

With Tom Rutt of @tomruttstudio it was all about spatial gymnastics - making every inch work harder. The reimagined staircase suddenly freed up room for the blue pantry, the en suite I had dreamed of (more pics soon) - and became the focal point of the whole house.

It flows as a seamless ribbon of timber with a plaster handrail. It took a team of craftsmen nearly a month to install, takes up less room than its predecessor, and just belongs here — without pretending to be something from 200 years ago. Unlike the floors, which are reclaimed from 200-year old French beams 🤎
