We strongly condemn errors in name and gender appearing on Transgender persons ballots. We continue to support our community with our November Transgender Parent Day social and clothing swap, and December's TransID clinic. Your voice matters!

You'll have to pardon our lack of photos for this one; we were having such a good time that we completely forgot the pictures!

Our first ever Queer Book Swap & Sip partnership between @reddeerpride and @gay.book.cult was an absolute success. We can't thank the community enough for coming out and supporting this initiative. Whether you've been lurking the Book Cult for a while or heard about the event through a friend, you're an avid reader of queer horror or are just getting into books, you never leave the comfort of your cozy home full of cats or came as the emotional support partner - you are welcome here. Thank you for taking a chance to meet new folks on this beautiful Sunday fall day. We see you and appreciate you 💜

Everyone went home with at least 2 new-to-them books and any leftover ones were donated to Rosie's Library with @newqns 📚

Thank you to our wonderful hosts at @sunworksliving , the inviting basement space was the perfect set up for our event. They even had KD Lang on the stereo when we arrived. What an absolute gem these people are.

Would you like to see this event in Red Deer again? Tell us in the comments below, we'd love to hear from you!

Dignified consumption has never been only about cannabis.

It is about the belief that every person deserves to move through the world without being treated like a threat simply for being who they are.

That is why we cannot stay silent while Pride by the Lake prepares to install six-foot perimeter fencing to help keep its attendees, staff and guests safe.

Pride should be preparing for joy. For dancing. For love, freedom and community.

Instead, organizers are being forced to prepare for hate.

As cannabis consumers, many of us know what it feels like to be judged, stereotyped, excluded or made to feel unwelcome. Our experiences are not the same, but they should have taught us something important: when another community’s dignity and safety are threatened, we stand beside them.

Because dignity is not conditional.

Queer people deserve to gather publicly and joyfully in Sylvan Lake. They deserve to celebrate without fear. They deserve more than tolerance. They deserve safety, belonging and the full support of their community.

To the organizers, volunteers, performers and everyone attending Pride by the Lake: we see you, we stand with you, and we refuse to let hatred be the loudest voice in this community.

Pride belongs in Sylvan Lake.

You belong here. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Please join us this Friday July 10, 2026 at Fort Normandeau for Two Spirit Day: Finding Your Inner Warrior.

Two Spirit day is a celebration of identity and culture that emphasizes the importance of a community where being seen, heard, valued and safe is not optional. It is necessary and we all play a role.

We will have a pipe ceremony at 9:00 am to kick off the event, and drop in activities all day. There will be opportunities for community connection as well as supervised kids activities.

We will also have a bus shuttle from the front of RDNFS (4808 51 Ave), picking up and dropping off at various times to Fort Normandeau (please see Shuttle Hours slide for the schedule) in collaboration with BGC Red Deer District & Club. Please also note that there may be construction around the RDNFS Area.

We will also have a videographer onsite presented by Sunreel media to capture the day's festivities. If you have concerns about this please see RDNFS Staff.

We are grateful for our community partners, sponsors, collaboration partners, as well as the volunteers who will make this community event impactful. You are all warriors!
