A great space does more than give you somewhere to work. It gives ideas room to grow, conversations room to unfold and people a reason to connect.

For our latest Member Spotlight, we spoke with @fikayomigodisgreat about creativity, collaboration and why the right environment can shape the way we think. Surrounded by inspiring spaces and like-minded people, ideas have a way of taking shape and some of the best opportunities begin with a conversation you never planned to have.

Because sometimes the most valuable thing you leave with isn't what's on your to-do list — it's a new perspective.

More of Tamika!

These photos are part of a series Red Eye Screening (@redeyescreening) commissioned for Calabash, their collaboration with @peckhamfestival last year: portraits of the people quietly holding this neighbourhood together.

Tamika, at GT Grocery on Rye Lane.

Soursop, hardo bread, jelly nuts, and produce that take you back. The shelves here are full of home for anyone who arrived from somewhere warmer. For some, this grocery store is so much more than a shop.

Josephine, of Hair By Josephine in Peckham.

Hours in the chair. Hands that don’t rush. A warm smile that will put you at ease. Josephine continues the tradition that a hair salon is more than just about hair. It’s somewhere you’re tended to, then sent back out feeling like yourself.

I photographed her for Red Eye Screening’s (@redeyescreening) Calabash series, made with @peckhamfestival: portraits of Peckham’s quiet anchors, the people who hold a place together without being asked to.

In conversation with, Mama.

Here we are, in the midst of my greatest career moment to date. The shape of all my creative paths aligning, briefly like an eclipse. To be in harmony with my family. With my Mother.

The Collective Joy of Listening in Aethos held space for Gigi, for @saintandbirchley and for everyone present to connect. Grateful to you all, I look forward to sharing more from the day and beyond 🖤

A digital collage of some of the research and embroidery we made for the @redeyescreening @peckhamfestival , Calabash!

It's really important that places like Peckham are respected as development threatens to change the landscape. And it's even more important that we forefront the people and spaces that built the culture we get to enjoy today. Especially in talks about 'regenerating' an area.

This workshop was an exercise for us to explore some of the photos, news clippings, archival material, pamphlets I discovered at southwark archives and in the trenches of the Internet.
