The ever skeevy, evasive...or deluded "housing aide" Cea Weaver-defending the INDEFENSIBLE...justifying DEMOLITION of 18 buildings, countless elders and disabled, thousands of tenants to hand over PUBLIC LAND (a '99 year lease'...come on!) to the developer of all things...the deluxe units for the elite -the developer of Hudson Yards...you just cannot make this crap up! https://www.politico.com/newsletters/newyorkplaybook

“HARMONY” IS NOT A PLAN. TWO MEGAPROJECTS. NEXT 12-15 YEARS. HOW WILL OUR COMMUNITIES SURVIVE? BQE Central pop-up: Oct. 13, 2026, 4–7 PM Brooklyn Heights Library 286 Cadman Plaza West Drop in. Ask NYC DOT for specifics. DOT says it is working with NYCEDC so BQE Central and the Brooklyn Marine Terminal (BMT) “move forward in harmony.” We need more than vague reassurances! We will be living between these projects through years of overlapping construction. BQE work alone is estimated for 2029–2040. We need a PUBLIC, JOINT PLAN to protect our communities. Columbia Street Waterfront, Cobble Hill, Red Hook, Brooklyn Heights & Carroll Gardens must be explicitly included in the environmental review. Ask about: • THE COMBINED BURDEN: Model simultaneous BQE/BMT construction, bypasses, port and warehouse trucks, BMT-generated traffic & other nearby major projects. • DAILY LIFE: Assess diesel pollution, dust, noise, vibration, pedestrian/cyclist safety, bus delays, emergency access, schools, parks & small businesses—throughout construction & after completion. • TWO LANES VS. THREE: Study the neighborhood impacts of keeping two lanes in each direction versus safely restoring three after repairs. Publish before & after lane-reduction data on truck traffic, congestion, cut-through traffic & street safety—not just highway travel times. • BQE STAGING AT BMT: How will using BMT to stage BQE construction affect BMT’s own pier repairs, construction schedule and port operations? • COMBINED IMPACTS: Study both projects together: construction and freight trucks, diesel pollution, dust, noise, vibration, pedestrian/cyclist safety, bus delays & emergency access. Include impacts on schools, parks & small businesses, during & after construction. Coordinating two projects is not the same as protecting the people living between them. Show up. Demand specifics. Share with a neighbor. This pop-up is informational. Submit formal scoping comments to BQECentral@dot.nyc.gov by Nov. 23, 2026. Our #BMTWorks4NY table was a big hit, even in the rain! We brought information, imagination & a real vision for Brooklyn & New York’s future. Take a look at the difference. 👀 I’ve told @nycedc directly, this is the laziest, most unimaginative & uninspiring redevelopment plan I’ve ever seen. We have a once-in-a-generation opportunity, & all they can come up is more luxury towers limiting the full potential of our working waterfront? That’s it? 🤦🏻‍♂️ The Pratt students brought more imagination to the conversation. Shoutout to @prattgcpe ! If those student submitted the EDC’s Vision Plan they’d fail the class. We might still disagree with a proposal & believe an all-port future is better. But at least show us something worthy of the greatest borough in the greatest city in the world! Look at Rotterdam’s battery-electric cargo vessels. Look at Paris moving deliveries along the Seine, reducing truck trips. Look at public access alongside the working harbor in Los Angeles. Why aren’t we studying the best ideas around the world & figuring out how Brooklyn can do even better? We demand a WORLD-CLASS WORKING WATERFRONT, nothing less. Brooklyn deserves that! New York’s future demands that!!! A modern, all-electric port. Blue Highways that move goods by water & get trucks off our streets. Workforce opportunities that lead to real union careers. Cleaner air. A more resilient city. Public access designed to work alongside port operations. A place where our children can discover how their city works & see a future for themselves in it. Something people come from around the world to marvel at. Something other cities & countries come to study & emulate. Would NYCEDC’s vision put BMT among the world’s 10 most inspiring waterfronts? The top 20? What, exactly, would other cities come here to learn? This is a once in a lifetime opportunity! BMT should be setting the standard. Just more luxury towers? Where’s the ambition, the creativity & the ingenuity New York is known for? RESET. SLOW DOWN. LISTEN. Put a world class all-port alternative at the center. Study Tom Fox’s @cityclubny plan! DON’T GIVE AWAY OUR FUTURE TO D

Dear Anthony Shorris and Deputy Mayor Julie Su, Community members around the Brooklyn Marine Terminal are developing an alternative that could help advance the very goals discussed in The New York Times: food affordability, good jobs, & a city working people can afford to call home. We’re calling it BMT Works for New York. Building on the work of maritime & community advocates, we’re developing a proposal for a fully working waterfront that could strengthen food distribution, support housing construction throughout the city, & create lasting, family-sustaining union careers. Mr. Shorris, you asked: “Where should the public intervene in the marketplace?” We believe the Brooklyn Marine Terminal belongs in that conversation. Think beyond the grocery store—to how food reaches our neighborhoods. Beyond a housing site—to how construction materials reach the places where homes are built & we can build modular housing. A Blue Highway network moving goods by water could support both, while reducing dependence on trucks. BMT can help New York build housing without putting housing on the port. And affordability is also about the paychecks that allow people to stay—not just the number of apartments built. Our proposal is still taking shape. We have shared an early version with Deputy Mayor Su’s office, & we would welcome the opportunity to discuss it with both of you. We are not simply asking you to reject a development plan. We are asking you to consider what this public waterfront could make possible for the entire city. Let’s put public land to work for the public good. #BMT #BMTWorks4NY #BlueHighway #WorkingWaterfront #PublicLand4PublicGood
