Deep Hex 3 by Georgia Redpath Designed to be held, the Deep Hex pieces offer visual features playing with colour, negative space and glass's optical qualities. Each piece uses two colours - one draping over internal patterns, the other creating true solidity. From different viewpoints, the colours appear to separate or mix. Light bouncing across the threaded internal textures creates effects like shot silk, making these ever-changing studies in form, colour and light. Fused and cast glass with 3D printed stands 📸 by Simon Bruntnell Now showing at Mirage: Glass in the 4th Dimension 6 – 29 June London Glassblowing and the Contemporary Glass Society present "Mirage," an exhibition exploring the extraordinary optical illusions possible in contemporary glass art. 70 Selected CGS members from across the UK will exhibit alongside Peter Layton, Tim Rawlinson, Layne Rowe, and Katharine Coleman MBE. This juried show celebrates how glass artists manipulate form, colour, and light to create mesmerising effects - from subtle refractions to complex reflections that transform as viewers move through the space. #contemporaryglass #castglass #londonexhibition #glassart #londonglassblowing #artexhibition #whatsonlondon #fusedglass #3dprinting #mirage

To everyone I met at GAS: it was such a pleasure to share some time together, thanks for being so welcoming. With the current political climate I wasn't sure what to expect but this experience is something to remember forever. See you next year at GAS.

In the past decade and a half there has been an enormous increase in the use of 3D printers within kiln casting, allowing makers to create exciting and unusual forms which would be challenging to achieve using more traditional means. This lecmo will share how Redpath has used 3D printing to rethink the most basic tools of the plaster room – cottle walls and base boards. Dull, right? Maybe at first sight. Efficiency and economy were initially important considerations; after all, who doesn’t want more time and money to spend on the exciting bit – the glass? But Redpath has discovered that rethinking these bit players in the casting process has opened new creative pathways for exploration. During the lecmo Redpath will talk about these positive aspects, what they’ve enabled her to achieve within her glass practice, some of the pitfalls and difficulties she has encountered, and the mechanisms and solutions developed to work around these. To demonstrate the potential, Redpath will use custom walls and base boards to cast a series of investment moulds, each illustrating a different approach or end purpose. @glassartsociety @redpathglass #gastexas2025

Patterns: Composition and Design” went LIVE on 2nd September 2024. This is another one of our superb online glass gallery selling exhibitions. Theme: “A pattern is an arrangement of lines or shapes, especially a design in which the same shape is repeated at regular intervals over a surface. Patterns exist all around us. We can find a pattern in the trees, in passing cars, ice crystals, in our thought processes or in our clothes. A pattern is also an arithmetic sequence, regularity in the world, in human-made design or in abstract ideas.” What does pattern mean to CGS glass artists. And how do they express it in their work - see their compositions. CGS members share their work with us in this fascinating online gallery exhibition: https://cgs.org.uk/onlineexhibition/patterns-composition-and-design-launch-submissions-5th-august-2024/ All work is for sale. Please contact the artists directly to purchase work. #ContemporaryGlassSociety #CGS #online #international #glass #exhibition #selling #show #supportingartists
