come with me on a journey to read my TBR to zero

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I saw @gilioncdumas post an October Scavenger Hunt by @nothing.beats.a.good.book

Title starting with O
The Odyssey by Homer

Pink Cover for Breast Cancer Month
Withering Heights by Emily Bronte

Animal on the Cover for World Animal Day
A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin

Eye on the Cover for World Sight Day
Eragon by Christopher Paolini

Book set back in time for Daylight Saving
Saints by Orson Scott Card

Halloween or Orange Cover
A Game of Thrones

I wish I read both the Odyssey and Withering Heights already this year.
I wish more people would acknowledge the orange Game of Thrones cover, and even the shiny silver cover of the book.
The original cover of Eragon is an eye, and the spine of the hardcover is an eye.
And Saints gives a look at how LDS became popular in the 19th century.

🐈 Cats on Stacks 📚
Thanks @one.more.chap for the tag to show off my cat on a stack of books… cute in theory but he has zero interest in my bookish activities 🥲

But puzzles? He can’t get enough of them!

Inspecting my work, checking each piece and even supervising the pack down. Naturally he thinks he’s indispensable to the puzzle process.

⁉️ do you have a hobby that your pet gets super invested in?

Consider this your excuse to show off your little hobby accomplices, whether they’re book stack models or chaotic puzzle supervisors I want to see all your furry (or not so furry) friends ✨

🐙 I wish I had 8 arms too...
📚 Just Press Play by Nick Snape.

Joshua: "Fuck."
MARC: "Yeah, Procreate!"

Once more @nick.snape.author has done a fantastic job crafting this, a fast paced Sci-fi "buddy-cop" novel! A Sea-Cop named Joshua live streams his day-to-day job, when he and his mechanically modified Octopus buddy MARC are dragged into chaos as they stumble across a Terrorist plot.

The ecological angle of "The Scorching" is a fantastic backdrop, with the insectoid aliens here to help us.The different factions both for and against their involvement & the often horrific things that humanity has done in the name of survival.

This book has an unflinchingly brutal look at the future of humanity, of the lengths we would go to, and whether humanity even deserves to be saved.
It's one hell of an emotional rollercoaster!

The characters are great fun, especially MARC - her Sarcasm is absolutely on point. You really feel the love and companionship between him and Joshua too.

This book gave me a good dose of anger, humour and grief. Plus i was even left a little creeped out at times - that doesn't happen much for me!

And by god that climax.
Righteous.
Justified.
And totally BADASS!

If a Sarcy Octopus-Pal is your vibe, then check this one out!

SYNOPSIS:

On an Earth devastated by The Scorching climate event, the Drathken land their giant plantships with the promise of healing the planet.
Joshua Nkosi vlogs and jokes his way through an easy life guarding a deep-sea mining operation while watching old vids.

That is until he, and his modded octopus partner, Marc, get caught up in a plot to steal radiation rich materials from the seabed, fuelling the terrorists' plan to destroy a Drathken plantship, and ultimately put an end to the alien/human alliance.

Nkosi and his sarcastic tentacled buddy are forced to enter the Burnout Zone, only to come face to face with humanity's stark future when the hunt for the terrorists' lab takes a devastating twist.

As conspiracies deepen and the jokes fly, Nkosi and Marc enter a dark journey of discovery.
One they decide humanity desperately needs to listen to.

That's right. It's an Epic Fantasy about Dinosaurs... You're welcome!

After a lovely few days visiting the fam, I came home to find this beauty waiting for me!
Now you know I love me a good book with some Dinosaurs.
Jurassic Park. Raptor. Dinotopia.
Dungeon Crawler Carl 😂

So of course I had to say yes when @dan_hardez messaged and asked if I would read his book Eternal Dominion - an Epic fantasy about Dinosaurs, Assassin's and a Malevolent Evil!

Let's face it, I was sold at dinosaur... The fact it's mixed with my favourite genre is just a big bonus!

I'm looking forward to getting my teeth stuck into this one!

💎 Birthstone Stack 💎

We've finally gotten to my birthstone stack !!

June is spoilt and has the choice of 3 birthstones - Pearl, Moonstone, and Alexandrite. Pearl is the most often quoted one, buts it's a bit of a dull bookstack!

So I've picked Alexandrite which, appropriately for Gemini, changes colour depending on the light, ranging from a green to purple.

And that way, I still get to use my favourite colour in my birthstone stack!

It's 33°c in Devon today and while I love the heat, the school run almost ended me this afternoon. I'm now sitting in my pants until further notice.

❓How are you doing? Are you melting today?

Friday Flatlay with an entire flock of scifi and fantasy books with birds on the cover 🐦‍⬛🪶

Thank you @bookly_day for the tag

There’s something about birds in spec fic that feels both ominous and magical - carrying prophecies, hiding curses, snarky companions or impossible wings cutting across strange skies. Always promising that something terrible or wonderful is about to happen…

⁉️ what’s your favourite book with an unforgettable bird?

💚 Birthstone Stack 💚

May's birthstone is peridot or emerald, so have this green delight

Low-key caption today as I'm still on holiday and it's too hot for using my brain.

❓What are you guys up to this weekend? We have a bank holiday at home and it's actually sunny, which is a rare event for the may bank holiday!

The Sun is back!

I'm so happy that we have daylight in the evening again. I've missed having my outdoor reading sessions after work, they're the perfect way to reset!

I'm currently reading Proven Guilty by Jim Butcher. I have to say that the Dresden files just keep getting better with each book I read - it's up there with the Anita Blake books for me now!

We're half way through the Inheritance read along too, I spent 45 mins on the phone with the little Bro talking about it! 😂

I'm looking forward to @pascifycon with @thelibrarybat this weekend, there are a couple of authors I'm looking forward to meeting and several books I already plan on buying!

What are you reading this week?
