Learning to code gave me more room to build on my own terms.

That’s still part of why I care about this work. Having an idea and being able to try it is a different feeling.

If you’re getting started, pick one small thing you wish existed in your day. Build the simplest version you can explain and test.

What would you build for yourself first?

Remember when ChatGPT writing an email felt like magic?

Now the ask is "build me an entire app, debug it, test it, make sure it works." That's a different kind of job, and it needs a different kind of setup. That setup is what people are calling an AI harness.

What's the biggest job you've handed to AI so far? Tell me below.

That moment when an idea finally clicks is one of my favorite parts of building with people.

Sometimes the next step is getting the idea out of your head and onto a page. Who is it for? What are they trying to do? What should happen next?

Explain that before you explain the stack.

Could somebody understand your product from one simple sketch?

Show AI what good looks like. Here’s a simple way to work through it: choose a useful sample, show the output, then try another input. Pick one task and try the steps. Which part would help you most? #PracticalAI #BuildInPublic #TechExplained

You don’t have to feel confident before you start.

Give yourself one small task with a result you can check. Try it with AI. Notice what worked, what didn’t and what you need to ask differently.

That’s practice. That’s how you get better.

What’s one thing you’ve been putting off because you don’t want to look like a beginner?

Making more room in your day is a useful result too.

Pick one repetitive task. Time how long it takes today, then try an AI-assisted version and include the time you spend reviewing and correcting it.

If it actually saves time, decide what you’re giving that time back to.

What would you rather be working on?

You don’t have to hand your whole business to AI.

Start with one workflow you can actually describe. What goes in? What should come out? Where does someone need to review the result?

Run a small test with made-up or approved data. Compare the output with how you handle the task today.

Which workflow would you test first?

Everybody wanted an agent. Nobody knew they were hiring themselves as management.

This week AI got real:

01 · The White House renamed AI “Super Intelligence” and launched a task force to match.
02 · Anthropic got 21x more startup applications in 48 hours. The fine print says they can build similar or competing tech
03 · AI agents now act for you: Meta Muse, OpenAI Dots, and Covo bringing AI into your social bio.
04 · Microsoft and other tech companies were cut off from green-card sponsorship

Tech is moving faster than the training. Don’t get left in that gap.

Check the copy you’re actually sending.

Keep the original. Remove sensitive details in a separate copy. Reopen the export and inspect what remains. A black rectangle can hide text while leaving the original underneath.

The example uses made-up customer details.

Save this check for your next document upload.

Here is a check you can actually run.

Before adding a feature, name the step it improves.

Try it with a simple document workflow: draft a document, review the changes, export a checked copy.

An example: an undo option helps someone recover from an edit. An extra dashboard needs a clear purpose in that workflow before it earns a place in the first version.

This gives you a way to discuss scope. You can point to the job a feature supports, the result you expect, and what you still need to test with a user.

Map each feature to a user step.

Your first version gives people something to respond to.

Show it to someone who actually has the problem. Ask them to try one main task, then watch where they get stuck.

For a document app, that could mean opening a sample file, making one edit and exporting a copy. Can they finish without you explaining every button?

Write down what happened before deciding what to change. That gives your next version a specific problem to solve.

Test one task. Note one change.
