How to find the perfect Bench Press set-up?

Every athlete wants a big bench.

@coach_watkins takes Rugby athlete @reecemauu through a few simple corrections in his set-up.

1. Feet postion - to push through the floor for stability
2. Breathing - allowing to reset and keep “tight” between each rep.

Each individual athletes anthropometric demands a different, so this can be a great way to start and athlete - especially in a large group setting.

Do you have a go to Bench Press cue for set-up position? Let us know!

A massive congratulations to our 2023 Athlete of the Year Award @reecemauu

The past few years have taken Reece from climbing the grades at club level and battling injury to becoming a dominate force in the Shute Shield competition.

The past season had lead to signing a off-season contract with the NSW Waratahs and continuing on as in injury replacement for their 2024 season - all at the age of 27 when most people say your career at the point of wrapping up in rugby.

To not only Reece, but the entire AA athlete family we want to thank you for another amazing year. We are looking forward to a massive 2024!

@reecemauu is walking proof that if you put in the work, good things happen.

From entering the facility a year ago as a typical busted Rugby player, he’s been able to completely change the way he moves - both in the gym and on the playing field.

One of the biggest shifts in his training approach however wasn’t in the gym, or the field.

But it can arguably have one of the biggest impacts between an athlete winning and losing.

And that was his mental fitness.

With the help of @dk_mental_fitness Reece saw the value in not only looking after his body, but the mind as well.

That’s the value of having everything and athlete needs under the one roof.

Your training goals will change (and so they should), so it’s important to have the right people around you when you need to use their expertise.
