a lo-fi digital camera with a color ePaper display ☀️ now open source so you can build your own

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

October is here and we’re all at (hay) fever pitch for what one another is into.

Issy has a love for Piet Oudolf’s florals this spring (groundbreaking), as well as planning her next DIY project for the office: @allieisahomebody’s homebody chair via @oliviaedginton.

Claire’s crushing on this particularly pillowy piggy bao by @erchenchang. Plus the @tomsachs collab with @chanel is a painterly odyssey from hi-res photography, to his workshop and then to the gallery of @31ruecambon_. It’s made all her analog dreams come true.

Daisy’s got the rhythm of a marching band running through her veins, but she also wants to be held in the eight loving arms of Diango Hernandez Torres’s octopus shower.

To live is not merely to breathe, and in the case of Tasya Demin’s silicone-breathing oyster, Liam lives for his match made in heaven: coding & design. Also, through the lens of 1920s Turkish law journals, we peek into his big beautiful mind and how it interprets shapes and forms. Reader, you know it’s freaky good.

Meanwhile, Emma is nostalgic for childhood dance classes through the merging of liquid and light care of @perspek.steven. It’s also first in, best dressed for the first of you who wants a photo shoot with her soon-to-be handmade @reframe.camera. We’ll start taking bids now.

👾🌊🍃📷 Open source project by @reframe.camera is super cool, a good learning experience building it and you can't beat a good dither. Most of the photos I took on my first outing are currently locked up in a trash-quality offbrand micro SD card for the time being but here's some cool ones. Word to the wise, don't cheap out on SD cards, not my first time losing good shots this way either

Bonus shots of my workplace at the end

Thanks so much Doug!

@denisseaps is one of the first photographers to have tried out reFrame Camera, @apossible's fifth Applied Experiment by artist and creative technologist @kaloyanez

Thanks so much @denisseaps , we can't wait to see who you pass the @reframe.camera on to.

So I built a camera! I followed the plans from @reframe.camera made by @kaloyanez. This was an exciting project and the first time I’ve ever done something like this. There was a lot of trial and error with this. I killed a raspberry pi battery, soldered things wrong and got a little frustrated, but I kept trying. Failure after failure after failure, then finally it worked . I’d like to thank @kaloyanez for helping me when I reached out and being patient with me. I can’t wait to do something else like this in the future.

This camera has a 4in e-paper display. It comes from a DIY project called @reframe.camera designed by the Bulgarian artist, @kaloyanez. The thing I like about it is it is a bit glitchy, a bit pixel-y, a bit polaroid-y, with a touch of double exposure when the images transition. This set of photos by @ade3 comes from a train car in Loveland, Colorado.
