Life’s throwing a few too many lemons at me right now! 🍋😅

Job hunting, applications, waiting, more applications… and absolutely zero luck so far. 🙈 It’s tough out there, and I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t getting me down.

So, for now, my therapy is two wheels, muddy trails, fresh air and getting lost in the woods (preferably not literally! 😂🌲🚵‍♀️).

Some days you just need to switch off, find a bit of adventure and remember why you fell in love with riding bikes in the first place. The worries will still be there when I get home, but at least I’ll have a smile on my face and a bit of mud on my kit!

A little reminder that it’s alright not to be alright sometimes. We can be strong, resilient and still have days when things feel a bit rubbish. ❤️

Here’s to keeping the pedals turning, finding the fun in the small things and hoping something good is just around the corner! 🤞

Big thanks to @pocsports for keeping me smiling along the way! 🖤🙌

When I visited this tiny little Medieval village in Sardinia I didn’t expect this beautiful place to be there…

We contacted @lollovers_borgomedievale and got to try our hands at cheese making before heading for lunch, with a guided village visit to digest.

The route to the town is great and off-road with views of the valley of Nuoro and plenty of rest stops including a fountain around the top.

Definitely a place to pin for your next visit to Sardinia 😍

How much for coffee and cake?! 😳

Continued my search for the perfect coffee and cake stop with a trip up into Suffolk on a rather windy but dry and mostly sunny sort of a day.

Stopped off and had a cafe latte and a REALLY nice bit of carrot cake at Corn Craft gift shop in Monks Eleigh.

Ouch - the bill came in at an eye watering £8.80 - I am not sure I will be rushing back there again in a hurry despite how nice the cake was. 😞

My rides this week have been slightly bittersweet!

Not because I haven’t enjoyed them, but with the weather definitely looking cooler it seems like this could be the end of what has been the most fabulous summer for cycling!

I can’t remember the last time I had to get the cool weather gear out and start layering up.

I guess as we’re well into October, it shouldn’t come as a surprise, but still! 😫

Anyway, lots of memories to think back on.

What a difference a day makes!

Not because it was much cooler but because I was riding my @trekbikes Checkpoint gravel bike after a bike fit at @reillytitanium

Chris only changed my cleat and saddle positions, the angle of my handlebars, where the brakes/gears were and introduced a new suspension stem, so not much 🤣🤣🤣

What a difference - so much cleaner and powerful pedal stroke which made a real difference and much more comfortable. 👍🙏

After a few miles just at sunset, joined the @future_bikes_colchester night time gravel ride - as always, great fun and doing it at night just makes it better, though it’s funny how different everything looks! 👀😳

All in all, a very good day 😊🚴‍♂️

A fantastic first night ride on gravel in the New Forest, starting from the new Pronto Bikes store in Ringwood. 🌙🚴‍♀️

So good to finally ride with Ro from Girls That Ride Bikes, see the forest from a completely different perspective, and meet so many new people along the way. I’ve ridden the New Forest plenty of times, but never at night — and what a way to experience it!

A spicy-paced ride too, which definitely kept things interesting! 🔥

Next up… back into the forest on Friday for a daytime shakedown ride and some coaching ahead of my gravel camp in Morocco later this month with Female Explorers.

Lots to look forward to! 🇲🇦🚲

30 DNS, getting to the start line is the hardest part
It can be intimidating or not feel like “your space” when you show up to a start line where you can barely find any woman…

…but this is the exact reason why I show up. It has to start with someone, and so I hope to be able to do my part. To help create a world were this little one can choose whatever she wants for her life. I did not know of this race…

…I found it listed in the dotwatcher calendar while looking for an event in Spain. I was considering ride to Spain and do an ultra there, I was making this decision in July. 1 month before the start. (This is one of the checkpoints, yes, it was insanely foggy)

Instead I found one that the whole way there would be the race, from Belgium to Spain. 3000kms and for the first time riding in the Alps & Pyrenees. I’m so grateful to my body to have the capacity to take on such an adventure without any specific prep. But this is not to say it’s easy, but working hard pays off, although every day lucky to be able to move my body, don’t take it for granted!

CLOTHES
I took two pairs of bibs, 1 long sleeve and 1 short sleeve jersey. 1 waterproof and 1 down jacket. The bib shorts became by far my most important wearable when it got really hot I could wear it on its own as it has a front base layer, and the drop seat is by far the best I’ve had of all bibs I’ve worn in the past, veeery comfortable and super easy to pull down ✨ soo to the women reading this go get yourselves a pair of @enduraofficial PRO SL Bibs

EQUIPMENT As the very small human that I am, the decision around bags is always hard. Saddle bags and handlebar bags can rub on the wheel, as well as bags on the aero bars, the frame is quite small for just a full frame bag although it is something I’m considering for future) In this occasion the decision was rack, stem bags and top tube bag (medium one)+ vest. I think in the future I’ll do smaller or no top tube, small saddle bag, stem bags and frame bag, although I do like t

Amazing clouds today!

Yet another beautiful warm afternoon - how long can it last? 🤷‍♂️

Just lovely to be out enjoying the mainly quiet Essex roads enjoying the countryside - what’s not to like?!

For some people this bike is heavy, for others it’s not.

Fact of the matter is it weighs in at roughly 9kg, and that’s not really a dealbreaker for me, for what it is this bike is perfect no matter the weight.
