For 25 years, NewStories and Kufunda have walked side by side—rooted in friendship, trust, and shared devotion to life.

Carrying that lineage with me, I arrived at Kufunda and was reminded that this work is not something we do, but something rooted in relationship and kinship-shaping who we are and how we belong.

Last week, sixty souls from around the world gathered here, invited to explore what it means to be human—together. Each morning we began with the elements—fire, water, earth, air—through song, ceremony, and simple presence. We let the land and the circle lead.

Co-facilitating this gathering challenged me, held me, and changed me. In Open Space, we became students and teachers at once—sharing stories that needed witnesses and meeting challenges as invitations.

Throughout the week, I felt the living presence of my mentors, Jane Goodall and Joanna Macy, woven through the space—reminding us that this work is love made visible, and that we are not here to fix the world but to belong to it more fully.

I now have a few more weeks here at Kufunda to continue this sacred weaving—an honor to carry forward 25 years of shared work between NewStories and Kufunda.

Sixty souls. One Earth. One remembering. 🌍🌿✨🤍

What started of as a muggy overcast morning turned into another spectacular day!

After the beach clean-up we spent time swimming in the ocean and making castles. Later in the morning we moved to the tidal pool where the kids swam, played with the ducklings and enjoyed being in nature.

I had the most beautiful time at the #swidlersummit with @ctaop and @my.online.therapist

This annual summit brings together leaders and staff from non-profit organizations across Africa to learn new skills and provide a space for rest, healing, and mental wellness.

While I was primarily there to provide individual support, I was incredibly privileged to join in on the learning and healing sessions. Thank you @ctaop for being so generous to us as service providers 💚

We laughed, we danced, we debated, we learned, we cried, we made friendships and mentorship.

From a silent disco to healing ceremonies, mental wellness can come in many forms and when we make those forms engaging and fun, we help people rest and heal in a meaningful way.

Dashain Camp 2023 🇳🇵💫

Last month I spent 2 weeks at Kopila Valley a school in Surkhet Nepal. Part of something called Dashain camp, a camp set up during the holiday season in Nepal where volunteers from all over the world come and set up activities for 300+ children. It was pure joy, magic and chaos in the best way possible.

I have been to Kopila before, but this was was different. Perhaps it was because it was just two weeks, or maybe it was Dashain which is a huge holiday in Nepal, or maybe it was that this camp is not just for the school children but also to the community, or maybe it was the volunteers who had put their lives on a pause to come together to create this magic. We laughed together, cried together, played together. We all experienced growth and evolution in our personal lives.

Maybe what was so special about this camp is the children, who need so little to be happy. Who helped me tap into my own inner child. Yeah maybe it was them that gave us all so much more than we could give them.

Thank you to Blink Now for creating this magical place, to the volunteers who are now my friends, to the children for your biggest heart and innocence.
