Sand Lake Cabin is where the family comes to slow down. Sunlit rooms, easy transitions between inside and out, and a fresh take on the original cabin's charm make it a lakeside retreat built to be enjoyed for generations.

There is a quiet nostalgia growing in the kitchen little by little every morning…the quality of the sun casting flickers through the leaves onto the table, the clinking of a spoon when creamer gets a stir, the daily attempt to keep the slow before the day gets rushed.

I created this watercolor mural to evoke that.

Surrounding the rituals that become our lasting memories, its organic form and colors bring nature indoors, while the imperfect, hand-painted marks remind us to embrace our own imperfection…Maybe start the day with a little self-grace.
More than decoration, I hope the mural becomes a visual backdrop for connection… an interior with emotional depth.

There’s something about lake living in the summer.
A breeze off the water, doors open, and evenings that stretch a little longer.
It’s right around the corner.

If you’ve been thinking about making your space feel more like this, we’d love to help.

This extraordinary project by @mandmhomecontractors, designed by @renaekellerinteriordesign, made a lasting impression during the Artisan Homes Tour a couple years back. The extensive use of our White Oak paneling and box beams throughout the house showcases the unmatched beauty and versatility of reclaimed wood. A heartfelt thank you to the skilled team for their creativity and dedication in bringing this project to life.

Sand Lake Cabin reinterprets the warmth of the original retreat through refined timber framing that defines a series of well-proportioned, fluid living spaces, balancing clarity with comfort. Carefully articulated openings and wood-lined frames draw daylight deep into the interior throughout the day, reinforcing a bright, contemporary atmosphere while preserving the cabin’s familiar sense of shelter.

Do you want to add more color to your home but don’t know where to start? Then consider painting your doors as a tasteful way to create a focal point in your home without having to commit to painting an entire wall.
