POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I was honored to join @repconklin and his student intern, Amber Starr, in announcing new legislation to strengthen protections against workplace harassment in Pennsylvania.

Amber and her friend, Chad, approached us a few months ago to advocate for this legislative proposal, and to learn more about what the process would entail. She then shared her story as someone who personally experienced sexual harassment at work, and how her case was subsequently mishandled.

The Representative and I were moved that she had turned this painful experience into an opportunity to prevent future harm to others. That is a remarkable show of courage and leadership, and we are so proud to support her in this work.

Amber’s legislation, which Conklin soon plans to introduce, updates the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act to require companies to investigate claims of workplace discrimination. I ask all of my legislative friends to please reach out and consider co-sponsoring this bill to hold predators accountable and strengthen protections for all workers.

Yesterday I was honored to give a press conference discussing the piece of legislation I wrote called the Target Discrimination Act.

This legislation would require companies to investigate claims of workplace discrimination. They would be required to take statements from all parties involved. And use any relevant information in that investigation.

While my report may have discarded I will ensure that the great people of PA will be heard.

It was a pleasure to join @repconklin and Tor McCartney at the @centrefoundation Press Forward: Pennsylvania Wilds event earlier this week!

Joy Vincent-Killian, the initiative’s director, highlighted her research involving more than 800 residents across nine rural Pennsylvania counties. Respondents shared why they value access to local news and how this impacts their lives.

A topic we also frequently discuss on the @tormichaelsshow was prevalent in these findings: Local discourse and access to local information about the places we live is good for community health. People really want to know and trust what is happening in their local government, which only local reporting can provide. This focus also helps us tune out divisive national rhetoric and as Tor would say, “begin to look at each other as neighbors again”. 💛

This past week, @seiuhcpa workers at Mount Nittany Medical Center took to striking for a fair contract, including livable wages and safe working conditions. On Monday, the union and hospital executives will return to the bargaining table.

What this weeklong strike proved is that the community is OVERWHELMINGLY supportive of our local healthcare workers and the need to support them. These are our friends, family, and neighbors — not cogs in a machine.

Mount Nittany CEO Kathleen Rhine has thus far been glaringly absent and unwilling to bargain in good faith, and instead sold out the hospital to scab labor while cutting health benefits of good union workers as an intimidation tactic.

Support for the workers only continues to grow, as labor & elected leaders from across the region and Pennsylvania showed their solidarity. Our own @repconklin stated weeks before the strike began: “Corporate executives and profit margins must never be prioritized above the needs and livelihoods of working people.”

That remains the sentiment of this community, and if Mount Nittany does not shift their priorities to the very workers that keep the hospital running, they can count on our support and pressure to grow until it consumes them. Solidarity Forever. 💪💜💛

I stand in solidarity with striking @seiuhcpa workers at Mount Nittany Medical Center.

MNMC executives must return to the bargaining table and commit to ensuring their workers, the heart of our community, have livable wages and safe working conditions.

Today, @governorshapiro signed the 2026–27 state budget into law, securing a $12 million increase for rape crisis centers and programs.

This increase is the result of Pennsylvanians from all walks of life uniting to ensure that our governing bodies invested in the wellbeing of survivors and safety in our communities.

Support for victims and survivors of domestic and sexual violence is deeply personal, and I want to uplift a few locals who played a key role in this investment:

@centresafe Executive Director @jenniferpencek and Board Chair Katie Blume lobbied passionately and effectively, recruiting many of us to get to work on this from day one. @repconklin fought tirelessly for us on the legislative side, and his and others’ leadership spurred a great deal of support across party lines.

This is the power of persistent and dedicated advocacy by good people doing good work, and that is something we can all celebrate. 💜🩵

Thank you @clearwaterconservancy , @mountnittanyconservancy and Spring Creek Watershed Commission for hosting last night’s public hearing on our community’s interest in the future of SCI Rockview land.

I attended on behalf of @repconklin to hear concerns expressed by constituents, which primarily ranged from preserving conservation to ensuring that land transfers are handled openly and ethically. #servantleadership
