“We’re all interconnected. I could go on and on for hours to tell you about how that connection works.” @repdeliaramirez lists how immigration benefits the entire American population and how they contribute to the fabric of America. #immigration #economics

When @repsummerlee and @repdeliaramirez arrived in Washington, D.C., for orientation last November, the two newly-elected, history-making members of Congress found themselves in a similar boat. “We’re both working class-background women, and it was very clear rent in D.C. is so, so expensive,” Lee explains. The solution? They wouldn’t be just colleagues—but roommates, too. “It was a great choice to share space with another woman from my generation who is taking on this fight.”

During their first 100 days in Congress, Lee and Ramirez let ELLE.com into that space—including a glimpse at how they get ready for a day at work. Click the link in bio for more.

What a better way to celebrate Latina Heritage Month then with my incredible colleagues at the Latina Heritage Day Brunch.

These women have broken barriers and continue to break them by either being the first or following the generations before them and becoming legislators, doctors and leaders in our communities.

Thank you to the @illcfoundation for hosting a beautiful brunch and to the staff at @universityclubofchicago for your hard work in putting this event together today.

I joined the Illinois Legislative Latino Caucus Foundation today to celebrate the women who have been at the forefront of fighting for change and ensuring Illinois is a welcoming state for all. You've already proven how far we can go together!

On #InternationalWomensDay, we celebrate the diversity of women and all women-identifying individuals across the 9th district, the state of Illinois, and beyond!

We stand on the legacy of the women before us, and so it is my distinct privilege to celebrate our accomplishments. From local community leaders, to entrepreneurs, to government officials, to nursing home workers, to educators, I am endlessly inspired by our ability to not only sustain, but lead our communities throughout.

It’s time to put kids over guns. American children and families need us to act.

Last night was Congresswoman Delia Ramirez's first town hall. I am proud of all the work she has done for Illinois and I look forward to seeing her impact in Congress representing the 3rd district.

I want to thank everyone who attended for making it such a successful evening and Hanover Township for hosting. I hope you will join us for more events like this in the future!

A big thank you to Senator Cristina Castro, State Senator Karina Villa, and State Representative Maura Hirschauer and their teams for making this town hall come together.
