On my way to a mikveh to cleanse soooo….some of what got me through ‘til pride (when I meant to post a lot of these by)- walks with friends, talks with friends, attempting to feed ourselves with friends, access to testing, attending art, making art with my hands (not pictured), pets, reads, neighborhood meetings, unpictured events (“hosted” masked karaoke!) and friends, and several tv shows. Oh and restarting Neko Atsume a decade later.

She currently builds artist websites, teaches in the MFA program at MCAD, and creates experimental video and sound art. Bailey Shatz-Akin (they/them) Bailey is an aerialist, acrobat, artist, and coach based in South Minneapolis and Brooklyn. Their work combines circus arts, dance, and observational comedy, and has taken form on stages and circus rings including Orren Fen’s Bug Ballet, Bread and Puppet Theater, Cirque du Nord, and Caponi Art Park. As a coach they use movement as a tool for building trans community. Orren Grace Fen (she/her) Is a south Minneapolis born Queer and Trans Puppeteer, Director and Performer. Orren has been in love with puppets for almost 19 years. She has performed in the May Day Parade and Ceremony almost every year of her life, and is deeply embedded in the many community puppet rituals that Minneapolis holds so dearly. She has worked with Barebones Puppets, In the Heart of the Beast Theatre, Bread and Puppet Theater, Open Eye Theater, zAmya Theater Project and Open Flame Theatre. Orren attributes her work to her many mentors including Harry Waters Jr, Sandy Spieler, Mark Safford, Katie Burgess, Steve Ackerman as well as the sacredness of growing up in such a beloved community. 'The 54th Annual Twin Cities Pride Parade’ was presented as a part of Out Loud, Out Here, performed on June 26 & 27, 2026 at @red_eye_theater. This activity was made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund. 📷@moosinguzi

While bugs and worms are often lumped into the same tiny-things-that-crawl-around category, worms aren't actually insects. Both worms and insects are invertebrates but, unlike worms, insects have an exoskeleton. To make things more confusing, some insects have been given worm-related names, such as glow worms and inchworms. These insects, however, are in the immature stage and not actually worms. While worms don't technically belong in an entomology collection, there are a small number of specimens housed in ours! — Recently, members of the Bug Ballet, a local puppet production by Orren Fen, stopped by the Bell’s entomology collection to find some… inspiration. Thank you all for filling our collection with whimsical puppets and joy! This video was made in collaboration with Orren Fen and the Bug Ballet. — Video description: The video includes clips of a worm hand puppet as it dances through rows of cabinets in the Bell’s entomology collection.
