🎉🇺🇸 Houston Millennials showed up strong at the Lindale Park 4th of July Parade! The patriotic spirit was in full swing, thanks to all our amazing volunteers!! We had a blast and topped off the day by hosting our annual “Freedom Lunch” by cooking and serving 350 hotdogs and hamburgers for veterans! 🇺🇸

Cruz Almonaci is a first-generation college student passionate about immigration, labor and education policy. Cruz gained practical experience at the Hobby School through the Civic Houston Internship Program and the Leland Fellows program in Washington, D.C.

As a Civic Houston Intern in the office of Houston City Council Member Abbie Kamin, she wrote policy briefs, assisted constituents and recommended locations in District C for renovations based on the research she conducted. Her policy analysis skills were strengthened as a Leland Fellow in the office of U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee on Capitol Hill, where she was assigned to the Budget Committee and Helsinki Foreign Affairs Commission and drafted floor and committee statements. She looks forward to serving her community with the values of integrity, leadership and empathy that the Hobby School instilled in her. Congratulations, Cruz!

🚨 This is an Urgent Call to Action! 🚨

As both a patient and a prescriber, known as #TheMDwithADHD, I am sounding the alarm on a grave injustice that demands our immediate attention. Denying individuals with ADHD their critical stimulant medications is as unthinkable and unacceptable as depriving diabetics of insulin. Both are vital, not optional. 🚫💔

It’s a harsh reality that accessing ADHD medications is fraught with unnecessary hurdles, making what should be a simple prescription fill, a trial by fire. Why are we fighting so hard for something so essential? This isn't just about making life easier—it's about making life possible. 🌍

We demand transparency.
We demand accessibility.
We demand change.

In one year, we have grown to the 5th largest caucus in Congress.

Together, we will enshrine the ERA and the protections it would provide into our nations most foundational document.

The Prohibiting Threatened and Endangered Creature Trophies Act (ProTECT Act) was reintroduced on Friday by Representatives @RepJacksonLee (D-TX) and @RepTedLieu (D-CA) who championed the legislation. 🙏🐘🦏🦒🐅

The ProTECT Act would prohibit importing a trophy of a species listed as threatened or endangered under the Endangered Species Act, as well as ban the killing of a listed species for a trophy within the United States. This reflects the values of American citizens, as a poll showed that 86% of Americans oppose big game hunting.

According to @AWIonline, there is no credible scientific evidence that trophy hunting benefits conservation. Indeed, studies have shown that charismatic species are worth more alive as tourist attractions than dead at the hands of a trophy hunter.
