Recently I had the honour of performing alongside some incredible artists at a gathering for Kate, a boat that left Bristol Harbour the following morning to join the Freedom Flotilla, an international mission sailing towards Gaza with humanitarian aid and a message of solidarity with the Palestinian people. 🇵🇸

At a time when witnessing so much death, destruction & human suffering risks becoming normalised, I find myself asking how did we get to a point where the suffering of an entire people can unfold before our eyes, day after day, and the world continues to carry on?

Yet surrounded by so much darkness, I continue to find hope in humanity. In ordinary people doing extraordinary things. In those willing to cross oceans, give their time, share their resources and put their own comfort aside for the sake of others.

That afternoon in Bristol was a reminder of why we create art. Music has always been a way for us to come together, express our grief, celebrate our humanity and remind one another that we are not powerless.

We don’t all have to sail across the sea to make a difference. Sometimes it begins in our own communities, with an act of kindness, supporting someone in need, sharing what we have or simply refusing to become indifferent to another person’s suffering.

To everyone aboard Kate and all those involved in the Freedom Flotilla, I wish you a safe journey. May your courage and compassion continue to inspire people across the world.

May we never become so accustomed to suffering that we lose our capacity to care. And may our compassion always be greater than our fear.

À La Défense, le Zoo Art Show transforme un immeuble entier en terrain de jeu pour le graffiti et le street art.

Ici, pas de cadre pour calmer le geste.
Ça déborde. Ça provoque. Ça raconte.
Des murs qui parlent, des panneaux détournés, des personnages qui surgissent et des lettres qui prennent toute la place.

Du bitume au musée, la frontière devient floue.
Et c’est justement là que ça devient intéressant. 🎨💥

On Wednesday, Israeli army chief Eyal middleeasteye Zamir delivered a speech in which he vowed that the Israeli military would continue fighting, amid mounting evidence of war crimes committed by Israeli forces in Gaza, including testimonies recently featured in the documentary NAZA.

My daughter Aylin is 7 years old. She is from Gaza.

She is still just a little girl, but she has lived through things no child should ever have to experience.

I am Aylin’s father. During the war, I was severely injured, and my left hand was badly damaged. Since then, I have not been able to use it as I did before.

In this video, Aylin tells our story in her own words. She only wants to see her father strong again — able to hold her hand and play with her.

We came to Egypt for my treatment through the World Health Organization, and our family is currently living inside a hospital.
