I decided I wanted to do a HYROX this year.

@meliabia25 was brave enough to sign up for NY Pro Doubles with me. Two working mamas. One big goal.

As we walked to the corral on race day, they announced the rest of the day’s races were canceled because of the storms.

I was crushed. Being pregnant meant we couldn’t just rebook, we’d have to wait until next year.

What I didn’t know was that my village had other plans.

@meliabia25 came up with the idea of a HYROX simulation in Chicago. My husband worked with my trainer to execute every detail, surprising me with a full HYROX-style workout, inviting friends to participate (many had never even heard of HYROX 😂), and filling the gym with people I love.

Every woman who showed up to compete was a mom, giving up her Saturday morning on a holiday weekend to be there. I’m so thankful for:

I finished surrounded by the people who made sure all those months of training didn’t end in a canceled race.

I’m especially thankful to @meliabia25 for thinking of me when she knew how disappointed I was (and for trying to pull up and making custom patches for the participants), to @shaebutta3 for supporting my hydration 😂, to my amazing trainer for pushing me, and to my husband @bigoso100 for quietly bringing the whole thing to life behind the scenes. It meant more than I can put into words.

I’m so proud of what my body did that day, and deeply grateful for every person who showed up, cheered, and believed in me.

Next year, @meliabia25 and I are coming back for that HYROX start line.

Until then, I’ll hold on to this reminder: sometimes the best victories don’t happen on race day—they happen because of the people who refuse to let your hard work go unseen. 🤍
