For World Mental Health Day, I wanted to share something a little more personal.

I’ve written a special edition in my newsletter about my own lived experience of grief, anxiety and insomnia, following the sudden loss of my sister in 2020.

It’s a story I’ve shared parts of before, but this time I’ve written more openly about what happened behind closed doors, how grief changed my relationship with sleep, and the journey that eventually led me to create The Cognitive Edit.

If you’ve ever struggled with sleep, experienced anxiety or found yourself trying to navigate life after loss, I hope something in my story resonates with you.

You can read the full letter by subscribing to my free Sleep & Wellness newsletter via the link in my bio. 💚

And if there’s one thing I’ve learnt, it’s that you never really know what somebody else is going through.

Be kind.

I might be dancing, but I'm dead serious about this one.

Quick catch up if you're new here: Congress just voted to lock the whole country into permanent daylight saving time. Sounds like a win, since nobody loves changing clocks. But as a sleep doctor, I promise they picked the wrong one. Permanent DST means dark winter mornings for months, and morning light is exactly what your body clock needs to run right. The science backs permanent STANDARD time instead, and so does basically everyone in my field.

So I asked hundreds of thousands of you which team you're on. The results are not close, and honestly they made me want to dance.

The Senate votes next, and I'll be right here breaking down every twist as it moves, plus what it actually means for your sleep.

Cast your vote in the comments: team standard or team daylight? And check my recent post for the full breakdown if you missed it.

Which team are you?
