Få steder i Oslo leverer koseligere høststemning enn 25-åringen Arakataka.

It’s the kind of place that doesn’t announce itself. Small plates arrive without ceremony: a scallop crudo tucked under petals on a charred flatbread, oysters served straight on stone. But it was the spaghetti, coiled loosely under trout roe and a glossy chive butter sauce, that stopped me mid-bite. Simple on paper, nearly perfect on the plate, genuinely one of the best dishes I’ve eaten all year, anywhere.

And then there’s the wine list. I’ve been through a few in this city by now, and I’m not sure any has surprised me the way this one did, a page turn away from a Larmandier-Bernier and a Dauvissat Chablis Premier Cru sitting like it’s nothing unusual. Twenty-five years in, and Arakataka still feels like the place locals don’t want tourists to find.
