What I ate as a vegan on my recent trip to Switzerland!🇨🇭

I spent 5 days in Zurich, with a day trip to Lucerne so there is one honourable mention for there included too! While Switzerland may have seriously dented my bank balance 🫠, I also ate some of the best food I’ve ever had and I’ll be thinking of it all for a very long time. 💭

@neuetaverne.zurich - one of the best vegan meals I’ve ever had. It’s expensive but so worth it and the best location right in the old town. You HAVE to go if you’re in Zurich. 😍

Pictured is the sourdough bread and the vegan caviar and blinis. The caviar wasn’t like actual caviar but it was 100 times better.

We also had the eggplant with miso, wasabi-sesame and cashew, and the hand roll sushi with mushrooms, peperonata and pak choi. I would recommend everything. 🍱

@rootsandfriends - multiple locations around the city and a great place for a quick breakfast, lunch or inventive matcha flavours. We had the avocado toast and the chick’n’ caesar wrap. Would have also liked to have the opportunity to try their açai bowls! 🥑

@bakerybakery.vegan - this became our go-to breakfast spot located in central station. We tried their almond croissant, chocolate croissant, cinnamon roll and apple strudel over the course of our visit and loved everything. Staff were also so lovely and it was perfect to start the day with fresh pastries and iced coffee by the river. 🥐

@hausamfluss.zuerich - a really cool food/bar space a little off the beaten track but perfect for the hot weather and with lots of labelled vegan options on the menu. I got the tofu Thai curry and vegetable gyoza and thoroughly enjoyed both! 🥟

@anotrcafe - honourable Lucerne mention for this one! They only do smoothies, açai bowls and smashed avo on toast but the açai bowl I had is one of the best I’ve had outside of Asia. Great little pit stop in between exploring the stunning architecture! 🥝

@restaurant_dar - a fully plant based restaurant that I urge everyone to visit. Pictured is the ‘khobz’ bread, hummus, zaalouk and olives small plate. 🫒

Vegan! Vegan! Behind the pages

Vegetables is our main inspiration and we had a lot of fun playing with them while creating Vegan! Vegan! In between services, @klerestaurant in Zurich became a real photo studio. Some of the most exciting shots happened completely by accident. Others came after hours of testing, moving things around and finally finding the shot.

A Special Evening ❤️

Some evenings are more than just an experience they become memories you carry with you. ❤️

We had the pleasure of celebrating Leni’s birthday at @restaurant_dar Zurich, a plant-based restaurant, experiencing the DAR Journey from start to finish and what an incredible evening it was.

The food was absolutely outstanding, with every course beautifully crafted and full of attention to detail. But what impressed us just as much was the warmth and hospitality of the entire team. From the very first moment, we felt welcomed, appreciated, and truly taken care of.

And then came the sweetest little surprise: when we mentioned during the reservation that it was Leni’s birthday, the team surprised her with an additional chocolate cake alongside our dessert. 🍫🎂

It was such a thoughtful gesture and exactly the kind of detail that turns a great dinner into a truly unforgettable experience.

Thank you to the entire DAR team for making Leni’s birthday so special and for giving us an evening we’ll remember for a long time. ❤️
