She’s so hahaha, I’m so hahaha… together we’re so HAHAHAHA 🤣🍷🍕

One of those friendships where an entire ocean and months apart mean absolutely nothing. The second my NYC Twinny lands in London, we’re immediately back to being the loudest table in the room🥹❤️

Last night’s girl dinner was rather fabulous: a private evening at @restosune with @honeyspencer_ , tasting our way through four Italian regions with four Crosta Mollica Romana pizzas, each paired with a different Italian wine 🇮🇹

Did we successfully identify every wine during the blind tasting? Debatable.

Did we eat, sip and laugh our way through the entire evening? Obviously.

Note: sometimes I can’t believe life can be this good 🥺🥹 guardian angel watching over me and my loved ones for sure!

Vacherin Mont D’or is back at Mons

There are many harbingers of Autumn but one of the most pleasurable might be the return of Vacherin cheese to Mons. Made by Vincent Tyrode on the Swiss side of the Jura the cheese is made from a handful of small scale herds who graze on the lush alpine hills all summer.

Sune Beaujolais Nouveau Party

A bit like Halloween for grown ups Nouveau Beaujolais is truly a great Autumn tradition. No one does it quite like Sune who ever year import a whole barrel of the freshly minted vintage straight from the rolling hills of Beaujolais. This year they’ll also have East London favourite Will Gleave on the pans making a triumphant return from Margate.

Booking for lunch and dinner on the 19th of November are available via @restosune and walk ins are very much encouraged.

SMOKESTAK x Manteca

Saturday the 7th of November might turn out to be a generational date for fans of smoked whole Caracas’s meat as SMOKESTAK and Manteca get together to throw a raucous party at Protein Studios in Shoreditch. The occasion will mark a collective 15 years of the restaurants being open and is sure to be a great knees up with the added bonus of all the proceeds going to charity.

Luca white truffle menu

If you’re feeling flush and in the mood for subterranean delicacies you could do much worse than to make your way down to Luca in Farringdon between now and December. The iconic Italian restaurant is celebrating the first white truffles of the season with a special five course menu.
Priced at £225 per person there’ll be no messing about and it comes with an optional wine pairing for £105pp stocked full of wines to stand up to the rich umami of the truffles.

Date night in Hackney starting with a little sweat at @lolfa_london private infrared sauna (so intimate and cozy) followed by a table reservation at @restosune

Visited Sune back in March and the food was so good that I’m still thinking about it months later.

Had in order of appearance: the charred flatbread, the stracciatella with bitter leaves and blood orange (so simple, yet so good), and a pork chop that definitely deserves a mention of its own. Also the roasted potatoes that came with it were incredibly crispy and flavoursome.

And then came the pièce de rèsistance: the panna cotta with rhubarb and blood orange. Don’t try to replicate it cause it will just not be the same.

*almost forgot to mention, it’s in the Michelin guide - and for good reason.

Yesterday I made my debut as a @thetimes columnist. Primarily to make mum and dad proud, but also to document our journey of opening @thepoetsmithfield in a way that felt too raw for @restosune back then. We’ve learnt a hell of a lot and I suspect have more of a reckoning ahead, but I’m so excited to being in it together @speniilarge @charlieleonardsims

Smithfield is getting a new local.

This November, the team behind @restosune will open @thepoetsmithfield inside the historic General Market, beside the new London Museum.

Downstairs will be a proper British pub. Upstairs, Charlie Tayler - formerly of Aulis and The Ledbury - will lead the dining room, with Honey Spencer choosing the wine. A chef’s counter and attic cocktail bar will follow in 2027.

If Sune is any guide, The Poet may become the sort of place worth crossing London for.

The team behind Hackney restaurant @restosune have announced they're to open a debut pub.

Spencer Large, Honey Spencer and Charlie Sims will open @thepoetsmithfield in Farringdon, set within a historic building beside Smithfield Meat Market.

The Poet will form part of the six ‘Houses’ surrounding London Museum’s new home in the General Market. It will open first as a British pub and dining room across the ground and first floors, with food overseen by Charlie Tayler, formerly of Aulis and The Ledbury.
