CHECK OUT OUR LINEUP OF *FREE* EVENTS AT YSFF 2026!

We champion providing FREE, exciting and inspiring events to the public each year. This year we’re lucky enough to have three things that truly fit the bill:

Our Twilight Zone screening outside on Short Street to continue to commemorate YS local legend Rod Serling.
+
@alisontavel’s incredible documentary about finding a posthumous relationship with her father through the synthesizer he created.
+
Our 3rd annual Educational Seminar covering the facets of screenwriting with Jonathan Keasey (whos credits include Tow, Parallel as well as content for Amazon, Apple+, Sony) & Justin Macgregor who is the Head of the School of Creative Arts at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland.

*It’s also so important to note that we could not accomplish these goals without the immense support from local advocates for the arts: @ohiogoestothemovies & @yscommunityfoundation.

We’re so proud to bring all 3 of these events that will cost you a total of ZERO DOLLARS and are sure to inspire and spark your creative imagination. RSVPs for Resynator and Educational Seminar on our website. SEE YOU THERE!

We’d be hard pressed to find an event that represents YSFF values and our programming North Star more:

A FREE event Presented by @ohiogoestothemovies, Resynator is a film about a daughter (Alison Tavel) searching for a post humous relationship with her father and finding it by restoring a synthesizer he built before she was born. Aided by estranged family, lost friends, fellow inventors and celebrated musicians (Peter Gabriel, Fred Armisen, Grace Potter, Gotye and more), Alison goes on a journey that unlocks secrets and complex truths through which a father/daughter bond is finally born.

This film truly hits all the chords (Pun intended). It’s a remarkable story and masterfully made… and did we mention it was FREE. SUNDAY OCT 4 3:15PM +Q&A WITH ALISON TAVEL. RSVP IN BIO/WEBSITE LINK.

My wonderful friend @cindeloh put this video together for me from my @resynator premiere in London ❤️🇬🇧❤️ I wish I could relive it again and again. Thank you to Matt Musty, Dan Hall, Kendra Frost, Mike Kauffman and Josh Weller for taking so much time out of your lives to care for this project and this event. And thank you to EVERYONE else who invited friends and came out to support an indie film. Your messages post-screening have been some of the kindest and most treasured moments for me. I love what this film does to people after they watch it and I’m never going to stop pushing for people to watch it. ❤️

The UK launch of @resynator 🔥 what can I say.. easily one of the best music documentaries I’ve watched in the last 5 years. Truly heartfelt and honest. Available as of now. If you want to know where your favourite synthesiser comes from. Look no further @alisontavel 🔥❤️🔥. Thank you @kat_corbett ❤️.

I have so much more to say, and so many more people to thank (and so many texts and emails to respond to) but I just first needed to give a shout to @kendra_j_frost who I met through @ispeakmachine many moons ago (and who are both in the film) - because she has championed this film since we met and her spirit and her London community came out HARD for this premiere and made me feel, not just warm and welcome, but wanted. Kendra is a true artist in every sense of the word, I’m such a fan of her music and the way she carries her life. Thanks for making the night, and the lead up to the night unforgettable and easy and exciting. I should have given a shout from the stage and I blew it!! I’m the worst! ❤️
