“In love with this deep, dark green from Wise Owl Paint OHE, Dark Forest. Dark enough to act as a neutral and complimentary to wood tones!“ - @retro.indesign 🖤

Some dark finishes demand attention.

Others quietly change the entire feeling of a room.

That’s the difference with Raven.

It doesn’t read flat black, and it doesn’t lean obviously navy either. It sits somewhere in between, which is exactly why colours like this feel so elevated in real homes. Soft in some light. Deep and architectural in others.

And this piece balanced that depth beautifully.

Keeping the warmth through the timber legs stopped the darker body from feeling visually heavy, while the antique brass hardware added just enough contrast to keep everything feeling refined rather than stark.

This is also a really good example of why blue-black tones tend to age more gracefully than harsh true blacks in interiors. They still create mood and definition, but with a softness that feels easier to live alongside every day.

Some pieces don’t need noise or trend to make an impact.
They simply hold their presence with quiet confidence.

This beautiful retro credenza by Debra at @retro.indesign is a perfect example of design-led refinishing done with clarity and restraint. The sculptural fluted detailing creates rhythm and depth across the surface, allowing the form of the piece to remain the hero while the finish elevates it into something truly statement-worthy.

Finished in Dark Forest by Wise Owl Paint, the colour grounds the piece and gives it strength without overwhelming the design. Paired with Wise Owl Paint’s One Hour Enamel, the surface delivers a smooth, self-levelling finish with a built-in satin topcoat and excellent durability — making it ideal for statement furniture where both aesthetics and performance matter.

This is the kind of transformation that feels considered, confident, and lasting. A piece that doesn’t chase trend, but instead earns its place in a space through craftsmanship and proportion.

Beautiful work, Debra — a stunning example of refined furniture restoration and strong design direction.

Some colours don’t need to shout to make an impact.

This beautifully crafted piece by @retro.indesign is a perfect example of how a deep neutral can bring clarity and strength to a design without overpowering it. The charcoal framing in Wrought Iron by Wise Owl Paint creates structure and definition, allowing the warmth of the timber and the layered stencil detail to remain the hero.

Wrought Iron sits comfortably between black and soft charcoal, delivering depth without heaviness. It sharpens lines, anchors a piece visually, and adds a sense of quiet confidence that works across both contemporary and classic interiors.

Paired with Wise Owl’s One Hour Enamel, the finish achieves a smooth satin sheen that’s durable, self-levelling, and designed for real-world living — not just beautiful photos.

If you’re drawn to finishes that feel strong, grounded, and timeless rather than trend-driven, this is exactly the kind of colour choice that delivers long-term satisfaction.
