26.027: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Chapter 2, The Vikings Are Coming”

Cap’n Red Beard reporting from the fore deck of a Viking longship. Vikings and Pirates are similar in their fearlessness and fearsome news. Both are fierce warriors. And, both are in constant search for treasure of one kind or another.

In the following tale, Bjørn Thorsen and his wife, Helga, are leading a band of Vikings on a hunt for treasure. Longships were better suited to travel through the fjords of their homeland. Yet, on this journey, Bjørn has guided them into the heavy seas of the North Sea.

The ships that went out, back in the Spring, returned with riches and tales of even more riches to be had. Bjørn and his crew were eager to bring back an even greater trove of treasure than the earlier ships.

As they sailed away from their homeland, they never considered the possibility of them not returning at all. Will they be successful? Or will they end up sailing off the edge of the world?

More about Bjørn and his Viking crew in future tales.

Happy day, dear friends‼️🏴‍☠️😎

26.026: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Chapter 1, “Polly Wants A Kraken”

Welcome, Mateys! Yer just in time for Chapter 1 of “Dead Men Tell No Tales.” I call this chapter, “Polly Wants A Kraken.” Let’s get started.

Pete is an old, retired pirate. He lives a quiet life with his parrot, Polly. They spend their evenings at the local tavern telling tales of their pirate adventures. I arrrived in time to hear the following tale.

“Polly and I were on shore leave. We were enjoying a leisurely walk along the beach. The beach was empty, except for a lone pier sticking into the water. As we drew closer, Polly began squawking, “Polly wants a Kraken!” I feared she may have become ill; I told her we should return to our room to rest.

“Polly flew off to the abandoned pier, squawking all the way. By the time I reached the pier, Polly was already perched at the end of the pier. A sign was posted down there. It was too small for me to read from a distance.

“Polly squawked loudly, ’Polly WANTS a Krarken!’ I started running towards her. Just then, red tentacles rose from the water and flopped onto the pier. Something was searching for Polly, me, or both of us.

‘“Polly flew high into the air. She started flying swiftly back towards the pier, where a great, red sea monster had appeared. I stopped running and began waving to Polly to keep her away from the monster.

“As if by magic, Polly grew in size. She attacked the monster. It tried to fight back, but Polly moved too swiftly. I stood and watched in fear for my dear Polly.

“Polly shrieked, ’Polly WANTS a Krarken!’, then opened her mouth wide enough to engulf the monster. She swallowed it whole. Then she stood there, in all her glory, looking at me. I walked towards her. She burped loudly; then returned to normal size. I picked her up. We returned to our room for some crackers.”

No Krakens were ever seen, again. Pete and Polly are still living on an island far from any shipping lanes.

Stay tuned for the next chapter, my friends‼️🌞😎

26.023: Storytime With Uncle Draco.

Gather round, friends. It’s storytime! Today’s tale is titled, “Adventure In The Land Before Time.”

#Lego_Flex awoke in the pre-dawn hour. The world outside was still shrouded in darkness. He dressed and headed out to the garden. He was on a quest.

Were any mushrooms (Fungi) growing in his garden. Did any of them glow in the dark. In his hurry to get outside, he forgot to grab a flashlight and his cellphone.

He stumbled around in the darkness trying to not step on any mushrooms. The sun was beginning its ascent above the horizon. The first rays of sunlight began to illuminate his garden. It looked strangely unfamiliar to him.

He listened to the many strange sounds around him. The ground shook beneath his feet. A ferocious roar reverberated through the air. Whatever made that sound must be enormous.

The sun rose higher and higher in the sky. He was able to clearly view his surroundings. It occurred to him that he may not be in his garden nor in his time period. He wondered if he had somehow passed through a portal to a Neolithic time period on Earth or possibly elsewhere.

As he scanned his surroundings, he noticed giant mushrooms circling around him. He spotted a giant ladybug with some smaller ones on a dead tree stump. Behind him lurked some sort of giant space alien bug. Was that a robot T-Rex patrolling the perimeter?

An Ankylosaurus appeared to be hiding just outside his mushroom vale. From the other side of this fungal glen, he could feel a hot breeze that smelled of death. He turned slowly and found himself face-to-face with an enormous T-Rex, which was hunting for its next meal.

Big Rex opened his mouth and let out a deafening roar. He felt himself swooning. As his eyes closed, the last thing he saw was the Little Rex Bot attacking Big Rex and chasing it away.

After what felt like aeons, he opened his eyes and discovered he was in his own bed in his own bedroom. Had his Land Before Time adventure just been a dream? Should he go back into the garden and look for clues. Nah! He decided to go back to bed and skip the rest of the day. One adventure was enough for that day.

Happy days, dear friends‼️🍄🍄🦖🍄🍄😎

26.021: Monster Fighters, Second Generation

Is it possible that Lego is teasing us with the possibility of a second generation of the Monster Fighters theme? For this week’s #legohaturday, I have assembled a small party of likely candidates for this new theme.

First up: The Monster Hunter from CMF Series 29. With two in hand, I have created the Van Helsing twins: Judy Beth and Jane. Judy Beth was born just before the stroke of midnight on 31 December. Jane arrived shortly after the stroke of midnight on 1 January. Their parents were both Monster Hunters who died in the hunting monsters.

Next up: The Steampunk Invertor from CMF Series 27. I’ve named him Jonathan Carver. He is the brother of the twins’ mother and became their guardian at their parents’ deaths. He is the technology guru for the Monster Hunters.

The next two characters are the Pilot and Navigator of the Monster Hunters’ airship. Jack Wilcox lost his left eye in an accident, yet still continues to serve as Pilot. His nickname is “One-Eyed Jack.” His partner and Navigator is Hercules Johnson. Since Jack’s accident, Hercules has taken to calling himself “Black Jack.” Jack Wilcox was one of the May 2026 BAM minifigs. His partner was created from pieces from several sources.

Lastly, The Mystery Man. Most of his parts came from the BAM tower at my local Lego store. His pants are adorned with skulls which suggests he could be a villain. The skulls could also represent monsters he has eliminated.

As you can see from their group photo, all these minifigs are wearing cool hats, except the the very hairy Mystery Man. This story is a work in progress.

Hope you had a hattastic Lego Haturday, dear friends‼️🧢🎩🪖🤠😎

26.020: Final Lego Flower Friday of May 2026

In celebration of the last #legoflowerfriday of May 2026, I am reintroducing 2 of my all time favorite minifigs. Butterfly Girl represents my eldest daughter, Caitlin, who passed away in December 2004, at the age of not-yet-16. Bumblebee Girl represents my youngest daughter, Kris, who passed away In July 2016, just shy of age 19. Butterflies and bees quickly came to represent our daughters in Heaven. Spotting either or both of these pollinators always brings us joy.

Today was a glorious day to take these 2 minifigs out to the garden where they could sample their natural habitat. In the first pic, we see the 2 sisters, together, surrounded by beautiful white Salvia blossoms.

In pic #2, Butterfly Caitlin discovers a recent addition to our garden: Asclepias tuberosa aka Milweed, the host plant for Monarch Butterflies. After several attempts, over the years, we finally have Milkweed thriving in our garden. Meanwhile, Bumble Bee Kris has found a new friend on the Monarda aka Bee Balm. The new friend is an alive bumble bee. The 2 had a very interesting conversation before they both moved on to their next plant destinations.

Then Butterfly Caitlin fluttered over to a patch of pink petaled Salvia. At the same time, Bumblebee Kris found a comfortable perch in a clump of Sisyrinchium angustifolium (Narrow-leaved Blue-eyed-grass).

Our time together came to an end, much too quickly. One minute they were fluttering about in the air above the garden. Then they were gone.

I look forward to their next visit. New blossoms will soon open.

Happy #legoflowerfriday, and peace and love, dear friends‼️☮️❤️🪻🌸😎

Minifig Habitats are modular 8x8 vignettes, perfect for a LEGO minifig. The format is a great entry point to building mocs, but in the six years since Habitats took off, we've seen an explosion in creativity from builders of all stripes. One of the best ways to experience Habitats is via community contests, and one of the biggest is the #disneyhabitats26 Challenge, hosted by @dontbrickmedown

Here are some of our favorites from this year's inspiring entries. Featuring the builds of:

26.019: Lego Haturday Pirate Hijinx

Fake Davy Jones sneaked into Barracuda Bay, searching for the highly publisized #legohaturday Pirate Party.

For a mere $9 USD, Fake Davy Jones was convinced to leave the shelter of his eBay hangout. We all knew he was not the real Lego Davy Jones. The real one costs considerably more on eBay.

But, even this fake looks good in his pirate hat and garb!

Knowing it was not real Lego before making this purchase made it easier to travel to the Dark Side to acquire a minifig destined to appear with an army of real Lego villains. That story is in the works and will appear once it is all completed.

Grab your sigfig, a pirate hat, and join the #legohaturday Pirate Party at your nearest Lego Pirate hangout.

Arrrgh, my friends‼️🏴‍☠️😎

E-Ticket Builders’ Remember When? Challenge Review!

Thank you to everyone who participated in our Remember When? Challenge! We loved taking a trip down memory lane and hope you did too! 🥲

💫 The most represented park goes to Tokyo Disneyland and the many changes that happened to make way for rides like Beauty and the Beast, Baymax, and soon Wreck-It Ralph!

💫 Next up was the original Disneyland with most of them being in Tomorrowland!

💫 In third place is Disney California Adventure and all in Hollywoodland which has seen the most changes and we think will continue to!

💫 Fourth place goes to Disney Hollywood Studios with tributes to two beloved attractions! 🥲

💫 And finally, 1 build each for Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, and the first Universal Studios build!

💫 Across all of the builds, Tomorrowland was the most popular proving once again Walt Disney’s quote of “Tomorrow is a heck of a thing to keep up.”

🏴‍☠️ Check back soon for our next challenge!

26.010: Galloping Horses Canvas

A belated Happy New Year to the recently arrived Chinese New Year known as Year of the Fire Horse. It’s appearance on 17 February 2026 marks the first time Fire Horse has been seen since 1966, 60 years ago. Upon completion of it’s term on 5 February 2027, Fire Horse will go into hibernation until it’s next scheduled appearance in the year 2086 (60 years from now).

Years of the Fire Horse are characterized by intense, rapid, and transformative energy, symbolizing boldness, passion, and, at times, instability or major upheaval. Sounds like we may be in for a roller coaster of a year in 2026.

In honor of Fire Horse serving as this year’s zodiac animal, Lego produced set #80119, “Galloping Horses Canvas.” This set celebrates the beauty and power of horses. In the background of the model is a reproduction of a classic Chinese-style painting depicting 4 horses galloping across the plains of ancient China. In the foreground, 4 brick-built horses appear to gallop as well.

This is a great static display which includes a small crank handle to make the horses move. I decided to add Lego’s Power Functions (#88000-Battery Box and #8883- M Motor) to automate the galloping horses. I have included a short video clip of this set in motion.

If you look closely at these pictures, you will likely spot a rider on the black stallion. It appears the International Minifig of Mystery (IMM) has photobombed my pictures and video. I wonder if this a clue to his true identity. Could this be Year of the Fire Horse charging into the new year incognito? Only time will tell.

One last word regarding the black stallion: it has no hind quarters. Instead of legs, it has stylized flames, representing Fire. Guess that’s why IMM chose the black stallion as his ride.

Happy New Year—Xin Nian Kuai Le (新年快乐), dear friends‼️🧧🥠🥮😎
